Really think some guys on here should separate their dislike for Mayfield from his ability to play football. 3rd round for a guy who accomplished what he did at Oklahoma? Come on now. Can you argue he shouldn’t have been the first player or first QB taken? Sure, you can argue that. But 3rd round?

Manziel was a great player in college too. I’d argue better than mayfield. Would you pick him in the first round now?

...and they still lost in the NFC CG at home to Atlanta, which is a cursed sports city itself. :)

Amazing numbers for them that year though; Moss had 17 TD receptions as a rookie.

Minnesota's struggles/tough losses in big games kind of get overshadowed by teams like the Bengals or the total ineptness of the Browns, but their toils are right up there too.

My point is he will be a bust. He’s not super athletic, he’s small, and he played in a gimmick offense st Oklahoma. Also he plays for the Browns. He’s screwed

What does Manziel have to do with Mayfield? Is Mayfield bipolar and addicted to drugs like Manziel and nobody told us? I guess they’re both white guys under 6’1” who were really good college QBs.....and that’s about where the comparisons end until further notice....until we see that Mayfield too is a physical and emotional wreck who hits his girlfriend, has multiple stints in rehab and flames out of the league.

Also, if you wanna argue Manziel was the better college qb, have at it. Better you than me trying to make that case....I wouldn’t want to.

Yeah bc mayfield has a great conduct record himself. Mayfield is short, not super athletic and played in a gimmick offense. Plus he’s a Cleveland Brown. He’s doomed

6’1, 220 is small? Somebody give Drew Brees and Russell Wilson a quick heads up.

And how was Oklahoma’s offense a gimmick? Looks eerily similar to damn near everybody else’s the last decade or so outside of Alabama, GaTech, Army and AirForce.

Whether or not he’ll be a bust in the nfl, only time will tell. All I know is that when he threw the ball at Oklahoma the last 3 years, he did so at an elite, record-breaking level due to a very strong arm and remarkable accuracy. Additionally, the kid is a great competitor. Will all that be enough for him to do what pretty much no one else has been able to do in Cleveland? Don’t know. But imho, he’ll be the most nfl ready rookie QB in the league this year. We’ll see.

I read somewhere Manziel barely read his playbook while nfl execs have said mayfield has the highest football iq by far out of the guys in this draft

You named 2. Which makes it extremely rare and unlikely. You’re right time will tell but I strongly doubt he will become a superstar, which is what you expect someone to become when choosing them with the first overall pick

Ran a 4.8. Drew Brees hasn’t matched that since he was 30. Brady and Manning never on their best day. They ain’t running the wishbone.

Public drunkenness as a college kid.....who’s ever seen that? ...arrested and booked on a misdemeanor. What else you got? Should he just not have been allowed to put his name in the draft? Any videos of him with rolled up singles and cocaine in a public restroom? His girlfriend come out as a #MeToo victim just yet?

And again, 6’1” is too short to play qb? Also, whos the better athlete, Mayfield or Brees? Mayfield or Brady? Mayfield or Ryan? Mayfield or Foles, the reigning SuperBowl winning qb?

And I’ll say this, for a non athletic, smallish guy, nobody could tackle the guy in college...go back and watch our 2015 game in Neyland when everybody and their brother, including Derek Barnett, bounced off the guy all night long.

You go ahead and declare the kid a bust and doomed....but I don’t think I’ll count this 2-time walkon to Heisman Trophy winner to #1 overall pick in the nfl draft out just yet.

Why? You care enough about some kid failing who you don’t even know that you’d be willing to risk/lose some of your hard-earned money? Alrighty then. It’s worthy of a few posts on an anonymous message board, but generally, it’s just not that important.
