Heard Kentucky is getting involved with Kira Lewis ..

Ending his recruitment doesn't mean we lead just means he is going to pull the trigger soon. Appears to me it's us and Florida. Florida has to be considered the favorite imo

Other than the connection to Lanier I am seeing nothing suggesting we are the favorite here. No mention from VQ about us being in a good spot is telling imo

Lewis has mentioned multiple times in some form of words Tennessee being the favorite.

From what little I have read it seems he is backing off that talk


It just seems very different from the "we continue to hear the Vols are in great shape for Burns"

Call it what you want but I swear we read last week that the connection was to Barnes at Texas and now we are told it's the connection to Lanier that helps. Seems like stories got crossed to me

I made it a point to mention Mann specifically a couple of weeks ago in the War Room as being someone Tennessee was in pretty deep with based off some things I was hearing, but I wasn't hearing anything that made me think things were moving quite this quickly. Certainly an interesting development that bears watching.

As I posted on the board last week, there are apparently some deep ties with the family and Rob Lanier from when they lived in Austin when Mann was a youngster.

As I said initially, I can't believe Tennessee would bring him in at this stage if they didn't think they were in a very good spot.

Didn't want to call Tennessee his leader since it was his first visit but did say that the Vols had set the bar high and he could definitely see himself fitting in with the team and the program.

The age would have been 12 or so when Barnes left Austin. Can't see that being a factor anyway

Yea. I read it they are correcting themselves and he has no connection to Barnes at all

With Burns as I have made known it’s my understanding that one is and has been done, I definitely don’t think that is the case with Mann so I think that’s a big reason why you’re seeing a different tone.

It was always Lanier, and playing ball with Lanier’s son, where that took place is what was incorrect.

At least for me my initial feeling of excitement was based on a relationship to Barnes

Then I think you misinterpreted the post.

Maybe so. To me saying you "know" someone means you personally know them.

Has a relationship with the staff going back about 10 years, he’s originally from Austin, Texas and played AAU ball growing up with Rob Lanier’s son so the family is very familiar with Barnes and Lanier..

As I have said the connection to Lanier is an advantage but so if being close to home for Florida.

If distance is a factor I agree, Rob Lewis mentioned it wasn’t a concern of Mann’s so tifwiw.

I asked Lewis if he thinks we are the favorite so I’ll let you know what he says...again my take is that it’s far from a done deal, but I do think we are the likely leaders and that at worst it’s 50/50, I have a hard time given the kids quotes in recent weeks that Florida is clearly the front runner.

I don't think they are the front runner.
It's very close to 50/50. I will call it 51/49 gators at this point
