Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

No one is upset and no one's feelings are hurt. Those claims are just childish attempts at deflection. What people are saying is he should do his job and not say things that can be construed as pitting himself (or "hisself", if you prefer) against the fans. It's dangerous ground and there's absolutely no reason for him to go there.

People who keep saying he should have expectations of the fans are missing the point by a mile. And I suspect, on purpose.

What a bunch of wimps that expect their status as a fan to provide them protection from criticism from a coach for not showing up and giving their all at the game......

He rewarded those that showed up for the Vol Walk and the game and questioned those that did not just like he did those players that did not give their all on the field...

"not my job" logic is pretty dang weak....

Full disclosure, I did not go... should have, could have and did not.... but will take my medicine and move on.... not going to make excuses or find a reason to make the criticism not a relevant position... the classic chicken and egg deal.... Win and I will show up arguments are the ultimate weak sister positions for FANS.....

No one said they won't support him anymore or got their feelings hurt. Even saying people are offended is a stretch. I will continue to root for all programs and go to the games that I can. Some just merely said that he should have stayed away from the statement. Not that difficult.

Have you listened to local radio today? They are pushng the narrative...they even took calls(the worst) by asking each caller "Did Pruitt go too far with his comments?" The media pushes anything that can stir up crap. It's pathetic.

This is what makes a an open fourm great , we can all express different points of views . In the end it’s all a matter of perspective . I believe it was said best in an earlier post .... if you are easily offended then what he said offended you , if you are not then it didn’t .

I don't live in Knoxville. I am 6 hours away. I don't care for the media either. Stirring up or not, if he stays away from the comment, we aren't even discussing it.

Pruitt's going to be unhappy with many of Butch Jones players, but after a 4-8 season last year, I don't blame him.
Calling out the fans for a spring game is his way of saying to Vol fans, hey we need you to show up and support the team.

Yep. Sure looked more than a few players quit last year. Yeah some of it was jones and his staff, but that’s not an excuse to just quit. It’s a hard habit to get rid of. We will see if this group of coaches can coach effort when things look dim. They will need to.

Not caring to attend a scrimmage that would make one of those old vibrating football games organized and purposeful does not mean that I should be a UGA fan. I rejoice when the team does well and am saddened when they lose. No one in Knoxville is paying me to energize the team with my physical presence. Plus, at this point the check would have to be huge to make me assume the opportunity cost of skipping all the other awesome things I can do with my time. If Pruitt develops a product worth consuming, I am all-in. I'm not volunteering to help him grind that particular sausage.

Actually the quitting "on the field" occurred in the last season for those coaches, not in the first spring game. This tells me that the coaching staff has not been able to inspire some of these young men.

I can see a pattern emerging and I don't like it. This is not Alabama where players will take whatever and stay for the NC ring.

Positive energy is needed right not - not negative energy.

It doesn't tell you anything because Jones would never utter those words due to the perception you described. He was extremely image conscience, the Shy Tuttle incident is front and center there. It eventually become very evident at a point, and no one needed him to get in front of a mic and tell anyone.

Pruitt is doing what most coaches that replace a fired one does. The exact opposite. It may just be his nature and the way he is, but thats not going to inspire everyone. He will have some attrition like all new (different) coaches have. Some buy in to change, some don't. Those that don't either leave on their own or receive a "get" shirt. And most of the time its addition by subtraction and better for all involved in the long run.

We had a strictly "positive" vibe guy the last go around. That didn't pan out. Being blunt may not either, but both will be irrelevant to whether he stays here and gets it fixed no different than Jones.

He's not getting paid to make you feel good. As long as thats a legit thought from him, Im down with it.

The problem with that summation is that coach Saban doesn't dog out the fan base and I haven't heard him call his players quitters. That may just be a Pruitt-ism that folks up here with have to live with.

Saban with dog out the media. He will cast doubt on the productivity of their DNA, their qualifications as human beings, their overall intelligence and their educational background as writers and reporters, their parental upbringing, their American citizenship, their moral habits,..............................
