Danny Ford: NC
Dabo Swinney: NC
Steve Spurrier: NC
Jimbo Fischer: NC
Bear Bryant: 6 NCs
They said he's had one day off since his arrival at Tennessee. He sounded tired. I hope he can get some rest, maybe go fishing, get refreshed and then get on with the work of re-assembling this team. I looked briefly at Alabama's spring game. There were flashes of greatness already. Those guys get it. I believe Jeremy can bring it to Tennessee, too.
Pruitt has a chance to be a fine coach, time will tell.
But at some point, hes gotta stop sounding like Clem the auto mechanic trying to explain why your tires aint no good when they dont got no tread on them.
Good grief, I get the hard-nosed, southern-fried country coach schtick, but eventually you also have to sound like you could hold your own in front of a room full of CEOs or big time boosters, right?
Or how about in the living room of inner-city recruits? Not sure how well the Cletus Goober persona plays in that environment.
Again, time will tell.
At least we all now know who he is going to blame after a loss ... and it is not going to be the coaches.
He just threw the players and the fans under the bus. What about the coaches? They should be inspiring the players to give 100+ percent. They did not.
Danny Ford hasnt been relevant for two decades, and Bear Bryant was from an entirely different generation. Times have changed drastically since these two roamed the sidelines.
Steve Spurrier was/is a little twangy, but he never came across as a twig-chewin, straw-hat wearin, wintergreen Skoal sucking redneck. Spurrier was notoriously good in front of microphones and with the media. It may have happened occasionally, but I cant recall very many the players dont got no passion type remarks from him. Same for Dabo Swinney, hes never struck me as uneducated or backwoods.
Jimbo Fisher may be your best comparison. He definitely needed polishing after his first few years. I think he got better as he went and the version of Fisher now at Texas AM is much better than his early days at FSU. Same can happen for Pruitt if hes willing to try.
My point is, in this day and age of constant social media, the SEC Network, etc, is it too much to ask for a coach to polish up his presentation? Do UT fans want Pruitt on the microphone at SEC media days talking about I aint got no time to lose games or fumbling the ball in games wont do you no good or the the fan base aint got no passion. Hes a little too 1970s Danny Ford in a 2018 world, in my opinion. But he can improve and polish up, if he wants to. Just my opinion.
At least we all now know who he is going to blame after a loss ... and it is not going to be the coaches.

That's who he is, that's who we hired. You want him to be something that he's not.
If he were my coach, Id like to see him grow and improve and polish-up his presentation.
Look, he has no problem demanding an awful lot from UT fans who are way more invested into UT football than he is at this point. He wants to offer his advice to UT fans about passion and how to support their team and how to change, why cant UT fans ask the same of him?
You want me to be a better fan? Fine, I want you to sound like a 2018 head football coach, not a NASCAR Dad shooting the breeze at the local hunting club every time you get a microphone or camera in front of you.
Even more, since UT fans are paying HIS sizeable salary, and financially keep HIS program afloat, the fans should be the ones making all the demands instead of the other way around.
In one of your other post you say you are an impartial observer after reading your more recent posts ... I dont think that means what you think it means .

My impartial comment was regarding my feeling that JG looked a lot better than McBride. I dont have a dog in the fight, just offering my impartial observation.
Regarding Pruitt, nobody knows. He could be great, he could flop. But as it stands right now, he sounds a little bit out of his league in press conferences.
You didnt watch many of your last coaches pressers did you ?
Maybe you prefer a trumpet playing, smoke-blowing, cliche spouting, used car salesman who allows bad habits, bad attitudes, and bad effort, as someone else said.
I knew it wouldnt be long before Pruitt was criticized for his southern dialect. I dont think its any kind of schtick as you said in your original post, I think its who he is.
I dont give a damn how he talks as long as he gets the program turned around. Time will tell. I like his no-nonsense, says what he means and means what he says approach.

Flipped back and forth between the two games. The difference was daylight and dark. They said he's had one day off since his arrival at Tennessee. He sounded tired. The last three:
Mac was a total goofball. Muschamp was clueless and in way over his head. Meyer was outstanding, CEO-like.
Pruitt is the tire man at your local Jiffy Lube.
Look, fans bust on each others head coach, always have. I listened and laughed at the sharkhumper stuff for two years, even though that wasnt even McElwain. It was still funny.
As long as UT has Pruitt talking about aint got no and dont have none in tv and radio interviews, hes fair game for opposing fans.
Now if he wins big and often, opposing fans will be forced to shut up and deal with it.
