He can't let it go

By the way I was there and the lower bowl was mostly full and scattered upper deck. There was more than 45k there

I know I’m being sensitive but this doesn’t sit well with me.

“I’m from North Alabama and growing up it wasn’t uncommon to hear Rocky Top. There was a 9 year stretch where we didn’t beat Tennessee.”

Jeremy WE ARE TENNESSEE

That doesn't bother me at all. He was on two of the Alabama teams that got smoked and coached on another. He was an Alabama man back then. Just hope he doesn't want to be an Alabama man whenever Saban retires.

Thanks. Couple things that stood out to me. He said there were 12 players out injured today but only 4 injuries have occurred since he was hired. The other 8 were leftover from the butcher. That is maybe the best stat of all today. And he said the offense was very vanilla, which we all knew. The reason it stood out to me was it was less vanilla than our offensive scheme from any game last season. Haha.

So.... about that quote from Pruitt talking about the fans. Probably not the best idea, and probably not the best timing.

But I agree with him. He asked the fan base to come out to support the players and make it a game environment. He asked us to do it for recruiting purposes also. While 65k is a really good number, why wasn’t there more?

I get it, we were bad last year. Okay. But it isn’t last year. Fulmer is in charge. HOH is on the ropes. We have a real football coach over the team now and not a gym teacher or a used car salesman. And it’s free!

Nebraska has been terrible, they had 90k. Are we better fans than Ga’s fans? I think so. They had 90k or close to it. I don’t see any reason why Neyland wasn’t full today. If it wasn’t for something I had to be at today, I would’ve made the 6 hour trip myself with my family.

Really wish we would’ve done what Ga did last year and filled the place up. That would’ve sent a message to the players, the recruits, and the conference.

What do y’all think?

Game was awesome, Day was gorgeous, Pruitt on the field coaching, every bit of 65k, and Hyams is an idiot.

Also, Pruitt expects 100k at the Spring game, I love it!!!

This is a beaten down fan base. Many are "I'll believe it when I see it." We've been fed bull **** for 10 years and was told it was filet mignon. I love what coach Pruitt has done to this point and I love was he's said to this point. Brutal honesty at this stage in Tennessee football is what is needed. But... he's a first time head coach and he has not got a track record that many can put their faith in. I like the guy and desperately hope he's "the guy", but only time will tell if he can rebuild Tennessee football to it's former self.

I agree, last year or the last decade doesn't have a damn thing to do with Pruitt.
Fans said they wanted a real spring game, a coach that would speak his mind and not soft like Butch. Welp, there it was.

No matter how good of a coach Pruitt turns out to be, he needs horses to compete with our competition. If we have a chance to help him get those horses, even just through atmosphere, I showed up.

I think there's a big difference between:
- Georgia coming off a national title appearance and maybe the best recruiting class in recent memory;
- Nebraska celebrating the return of one of its QB heroes to resurrect a moribund program (how many fans would have showed up if Peyton Manning had been hired?); and
- us coming off the worst season in school history, an embarassing coaching search debacle, and a NSD where we basically missed on every one of our targets.

Pruitt wants better spring game attendance? Win 8 games and pull a top 5 class. I guarantee fans will show up in droves.

I said during the search that I was done with putting blind faith in the coaching staff. They're gonna have to prove it, this time.

Kirby was a first time coach and GA fans filled the stadium up. I get it, it’s been a rough 10 years, it’s been awful. But that isn’t his fault. I like that we finished 5th in the country in attendance and he’s upset we weren’t first. All he cares about is winning, even the attendance battle

Agree

So... UT turned out 60K for a spring game to watch a not very good team play coming off the worst year in the history of the program after a decade of disappointment. The coaches should thank the fans who were loyal enough to show up. They wouldn't have had 20K at most programs.

Fair points, except that Kirby filled the stadium in year 1. If coach wants us to help, we should help in any way we can imo.

The last 10 years of Georgia football vs the last 10 years of Tennesse football are markedly different. Is that Pruitt's fault? Nope. But it isn't the fans' fault either.

That’s true

But we aren’t most programs. We’re Tennessee. I think that’s Pruitts point. He expects excellence and so should our fans. 65k isn’t excellence. It’s not bad but it’s not 102k.
