TrumpPutingate III: the beginning of the end

I don't particularly like Comey. He's a bit sanctimonious for my tastes, and should not be saying things like that Trump is morally unfit. I mean, he is unfit, but I think it comes across as petty, personal, and vindictive coming from Comey.

Nonetheless, I absolutely believe him over Trump when it comes to what Trump said to him in their meeting. ZERO doubt but that Trump was pressuring him to squelch the investigation and that, when he wouldn't, Trump fired him. The notion he was fired for anything else is just patently ridiculous.

Why do you think Rosenstein wrote a letter that Comey should be fired. If you read the letter you'll see it is not at all about the Trump investigation.

My take on the overall crux of the interview was more along the lines that Trump is a threat to the office, and that we're becoming desensitized to the Dotard's increasingly unhinged attacks on people and institutions.
Comey came of as sincere and believable, and gave lengthy explanations on his very questionable actions around election time.

He's an egomaniac like Trump, just less so.

He came off far from that.

Wasn't the interview I was talking about - it was your link to the Impeach site.

Ahhh. I believe the site is stating there are grounds for impeachment based upon commonly accepted, public facts. Thus, the site wouldn't address unproven, potential violations by Trump, e.g. Russia conspiracy.

he has on the brink of nuclear war is a commonly accepted public fact?

"North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the 'Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.' Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!" Trump tweeted.

Rosenstein letter offered a pretextual reason. This has been established by Trump, himself and his own comments. This is irrefutable.

Rosenstein might as well have said Comey should be fired for wearing too many striped ties. It would have the same purpose.

and it doesn't matter in the end. no justification is needed.

That is not putting us on the brink of nuclear war and besides we are establishing direct talks and NK and SK have already had several talks. Wonder why the site hasn't updated it's charges?

The charge of obstruction of justice has not been established and to your idea that it's simply listing objective reasons in the press there's been more about collusion than obstruction but that's curiously missing from the rationale. Finally the accepting money from foreign governments is completely vague and as I pointed out Hillary has this problem too (and yes I'm assuming many of the signers supported Hillary).

It might as well say Impeach Trump because he's a poopy pants.

But Rosenstein laid out a specific case citing actual wrongdoing by Comey and a firm opinion that the FBI suffers from him continuing to be director.

It may not be why Trump canned him (we will never know the complete reasons) but it certainly shows ample reasons why he should have been fired that have nothing to do with investigation into Trump. It provides plausible rationale for the firing.

I still chuckle at how the left wanted Comey's head on a platter right before (and after) the election only to turn around and embrace him as a "HERO!" later on.

Isn't the reverse true for republicans?

Comey knows his actions cost Clinton the election. Whether or not he feels his actions were justified will not change the fact that he will wear the Trump victory albatross around his neck until the day he dies. He should spend the rest of his life trying to negate the damage caused by his actions.

maybe he recognized that both were crap candidates.

I think most reasonable people find Trumps sabre rattling unnerving warmongering. Personally, I don't buy into it as a basis for impeachment though.

Obstruction has been in plain view since Trump fired Comey for "the Russia thing." Undeniable.

Emoluments clause violation is moving forward in court:

Judge allows lawsuit alleging Trump took illegal gifts - CNNPolitics

So, yeah, there is plenty of *evidence* that Trump should be impeached.

I think depending on how this IG report plays out, he very well could be in hot water yet again. It certainly sounds like Lynch is in it up to her neck. Who knows how much or what Comey's involvement is.

But I wonder...will you still be able to use James Comey as an excuse in 2020 when Trump wins reelection?

Definitely suggests the collusion thing is dead.

Sliver of a chance that an obstruction charge may come but you'd think by now they'd have enough to make that case and hence Trump would be a target. Sounds like new information would be needed to switch the target to Trump.

3 dang threads about Russian collusion - looks like they'll end with a whimper.

You may be right. But it still may end with impeachment.

Kenneth Starr started out with Whitewater probe, but ended up with a cigar probe.

Sabre rattling led to real progress so it should be updated.

There is less in the press that's real about obstruction than there is about collusion (the original impeachment reason) but even these loons see that's going nowhere apparently.

More evidence already available about Clinton cash than emoluments issues but these loons ignore that.

So we're back to the Impeachment website being devoid of substance other than butt hurt.

I think we should keep them going for sheer amusement.

anything is possible but these threads are full of people who bought the collusion thing hook, line and sinker - haven't seen any admit they got that one wrong.

plenty have bought the obstruction of justice narrative but that one too is looking weak.
