BasketballRecruiting.Rivals.com - Bossi's Best: High school juniors who should see their stock rise

Kira Lewis:
Interest: Offers from Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, LSU, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Houston and others.

Why his stock could take off: First, part of the reason that his stock could be rising is that we've had him ranked a little too low. That aside, Lewis is a pure scorer off the dribble who can also get hot knocking down contested jump shots.

Dekeyvan Tandy:
Interest: Offers from Cincinnati, Kansas State, Western Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Oklahoma State and Iowa State.

Why his stock could take off: A scoring machine on the high school level, Tandy is coming off of a monster junior season. He's a tough and skilled scorer off the dribble who always plays in attack mode. Some see him as more of an undersized shooting guard, so he'll have his chance to prove that he can be a full-time point guard.

Yep. I am fine putting a walk on on scholly for a year

I’m good with that...would rather them add one graduate transfer whether it’s a post or backup guard I don’t much care, just some depth. I would leave the 13th scholarship open, either Burns if he opts to reclassify or if that doesn’t happen I would go ahead and bring in Gaines instead of sending him to Hargrave for a year.

I am 50/50 on the EEing. Woodson has earned a scholarship imo so that might break the tie in my mind

I know this will sound cold hearted, but it’s a business...putting Woodson on scholarship does nothing to better the program, however bringing in Gaines or Burns and redshirting them for a year in the program definitely does.

No I understand and agree but EEing those guys could end up hurting in the end.

If a scholarship does fall to a walk on, can it be split? 50/50 between Woodson and Campbell would be appropriate. Those two will be seniors and threw up in practice just as often as those with the free rides.

For the kid (which I know doesn't matter for us) it hurts their ability to transfer but more importantly it takes away the possibility of getting a medical redshirt down the road

Now maybe that good outweighs the risk but there is some risk

I wouldn't think we should enter a relationship with a recruit with the mindset that we have a duty to protect his right to transfer.

The medical redshirt issue is a calculated risk. Like you said, the good of securing them in the class and not having to continue nursing the relationship until they sign, as well as getting them playing against college players in practice, collegiate nutrition programs and strength and conditioning programs, and also getting them a leg up on their academics greatly outweighs the slim margin that they may not have the ability to obtain a medical redshirt down the road.

Agreed with all that.

Loving the early returns on 2019

I could be mistaken but I definitely don’t recall being in this kind of shape in prior classes, we have Gaines in the fold and we seemingly either lead or are right up there for...Tre Mann, Kira Lewis, KyKy Tandy, DJ Burns and are in play for Josiah James, Jalen Lecque and Malcolm Wilson. On paper it would appear 4 is the max we would sign in the fall, and doesn’t look like that should be much of an issue, hopefully they can close on most of these guys.

We haven’t been in with this many guys in the spring prior to their signing.

Barnes hired in 2015. Had to sign 2015 class in scramble mode. Then we shifted to 2016 class where we were way behind.

2017 I don’t recall us being really involved with a bunch of kids. We ended up missing on a few and fell down our board to Kent. 2018 we had just 1 scholarship. We zeroed in on petrusev and a couple others.

Dj, lecque,Gaines, and Mann on the same team would be amazing. Add a senior grant Williams and that’s a national title favorite
