Seems you've been chosen to take SD's place. An honor of sorts?Laughable.
The season is over. We lost 2 of our last 3. Now it's recruiting season for hoops and we have zero commits.
What sunshine pumping should I be doing? You can't ask legit questions about RB recruiting on here. It's not allowed.
Why did we send an assistant to visit Akinjo while everyone else sent a head coach?
Why do we have half a dozen targets in the spring we are trying to get seriously involved with and in the fall we have 1 guy?
Why are the majority of our targets guys who re-enter the market?
How is it that guys who re-enter the market magically fit this "recruiting profile" I'm always told that Rick Barnes uses?
These kind of questions are not allowed here.
Here's the questions.....

I want to see some people answer these with serious answers and really give an answer instead of a laundry list of excuses. It's the fourth freakin class.
This sentence is what is laughable...you do realize a crap load of teams lost 2 of their last 3, right? Im guessing you do realize that and its why you chose a 3 game scope instead of 7 or 8.
Then reword your post to whatever it is you meant to say, because I truly dont know...didnt realize I would have to translate what your posts actually meant.
Pretty remarkable that so many decommits, grad transfers and guys released from their LOI in the spring fit the RB recruiting profile that I'm told we are using to find our players.
What was our recruiting board like in December?
For that matter, what was it like in October?
Since then, Simons decommitted due to FBI deal and ends up on our radar.
Akinjo gets a release - on our radar.
Fore becomes a grad transfer - on our radar.
We have had zero traction with a single recruit after the November signing day except guys who re-entered the market.
We could do it another way.
List the recruits we have been seriously involved with in this class.....
Petrusev
Simons - re-entered
Fore - re -entered
Pretty much anyone else that we identify between now and June for 2018.
We tried to get in the mix for Akinjo and even got him to schedule an OV before he canceled it. So not really involved but we wanted to be. Another guy who re-entered the market.

I can't answer that. Perhaps it was a mistake. No one says the staff is infallible. It was a calculated decision, and maybe it set him off. Thought, obviously not enough, at the time, to prohibit from scheduling a visit. What did Arizona do to mess up their chances? I seriously doubt if Akinjo made his decision based on which coach visited him in person to gauge interest, but I could be wrong. To me, playing time is probably his biggest factor in choosing schools.
Georgetown loses two SR guards who combined to average 36 mpg and 5.5 apg.
Why do we have half a dozen targets in the spring we are trying to get seriously involved with and in the fall we have 1 guy?
We had one scholarship to offer at the time, and we zeroed in on Petrusev, who we appeared to lead for until Gonzaga swept in at the last moment. We then moved on to Simons. With only one scholarship, it doesn't make sense to cast a wide net, especially when you find one guy you really want to add and you like your chances.
Why are the majority of our targets guys who re-enter the market?
Again, we had one scholarship to offer, and our brand and outlook today is much more appealing to these higher ranked guys (guys you wanted us to recruit) than it was 6-8 months ago.
Simply put, in the spring, there are more impact players available that opt out of other commitments than there are impact players commonly available who just haven't signed.
How is it that guys who re-enter the market magically fit this "recruiting profile" I'm always told that Rick Barnes uses?
The guys we are targeting are only a small fraction of the guys coming available. You can't pretend like we are desperately offering any and every player that comes available. The guys we are targeting likely fit the profile all along, but again, Tennessee basketball looks much more attractive to guys now than it did in the summer/fall a year ago when they committed. Plus, now we have an additional scholarship we didn't have then.

You just seem very hard to please. If we had focused in on a guy we could have easily landed, but wouldn't be a contributor, you'd have complained about us committing so early to a guy who wasn't a difference maker. When we focus on difference makers, you complain that we should have had someone locked up long ago in the fall. It just seems like you are at the end of your rope with Barnes, and have been since day one because he isn't pleasing you in recruiting. And apparently that is more important to you than what he does on the court. Would Will Wade have drawn your ire as quickly as Barnes did if he had landed the Tennessee job and recruited the same way with the same results?
I'm just curious on what Bruin thinks I'm supposed to be posting about.
It's not like a lot of great things happened at the end. I don't have to subscribe to his "standing ovation" philosophy.
Yet it was good enough to be 1/3 teams to land an OV, you conveniently ignore that part.
Who are the 6? Simons? Didnt pursue Harris. McEwen?
Because just about every Top 150 guy is committed to a school...so pickings are kind of slim. If we land Simons this doesnt matter, yet if we dont recruit a player like that and had landed a guy ranked 160 in the spring and were now done you would question that move as well.
Again who? They pursued Akinjo and McEwen with some form of aggression, yet you make a blanket statement as if they pursued everyone?
Hopefully I did that.
No you dont, but likewise I dont think we need to act as if 2018 is a disaster and the program is doomed either. I know youre gonna say I havent said that, but your posts all certainly sound like thats how you feel
We didn't land an OV for Akinjo so that's false. Canceled it and rescheduled for Arizona then canceled it and committed. We were out of it before the commit. So another dodge.
Simons, Fore, Akinjo. Those 3 are not debatable. There's more I'm missing and there will be more along the way. Any grad transfer we get involved with fits the mold. You know the names better than I do.
As to the bolded - the pickings being slim is kinda the point. We don't need to be filling up every year in the spring. Not a recipe for success. As to me complaining about that - complete bs. I said we should be recruiting like we had 2 spots all along.
Our recruiting board is small in the fall and grows in the spring. The narrative about sticking to this strict profile is a fabricated story that fans have made up to excuse the recruiting that isn't good on paper.
