Listening to Hubbs last week and he was asked about Butch’s classes being overrated. He said some of it was missing and some was kids just not panning out. Then he said you can’t blame UT for taking a kid everyone wanted and then the kid not panning out. But then Hubbs mentioned that a new thing we are seeing in recruiting is these kids are going out and getting uncommitable offers to up their profile/ranking. Hubbs made it seem like we ended up with several kids like that. Yeah that had good offers but most were not firm offers.

Reading this I feel like fans can't get too mad at recruits when they decommit because we don't know if their offer was truly committable or not

Something that stuck out to me was when Hubbs was talking about how Pruitt had seen most of TN players camp and play before at Alabama and Georgia...he didn’t want a lot of the guys on the roster

I think the DL will be a nice surprise. But with our current OL, most all front 7 could stop the run

Our only hope to have a balanced run game (that is, we can run inside AND outside) is getting everybody back healthy and having VERY few, if any, injuries.

No, just most guys on the roster. A lot of them as prospects that Alabama and Georgia had been seen by Pruitt and passed on.

There is some truth to this. But not all of them are going to simply “we don’t want you”.

It’s a mix of:
-didn’t want
- good player, bad fit
- no need at that position
- didn’t pick Alabama
Etc.

I don't know about y'all, but I sure am glad we have a real football coach that knows the difference between plow horses and show ponies. Aight?

That's not really new, but does seem more prevalent now than it used to be. I'm not sure if the recruiting services have stopped trying to distinguish between real and "non-commitable" offers, or if the recruits have gotten less honest about their real offers. Even visits may not be a great indicator, because players seem to visit more camps and take more unofficial visits these days. Either way, an offer list as reported by a recruit or their HS coach is about as worthless as a self reported 40 time.

Butch deserves for that stupid s*** he said he said to follow him around for the rest of his career. Hopefully he’ll learn from it, be humbled, and won’t make the same hubris-fueled mistakes next time he gets a chance.

Not holding my breath there, though.

he can repeat them as much as he wants so long as he's not here. he can be a complete ***k up while he's at Bama, that'd be fine w/me. anything he can do to bring it down from the inside, i'm for it.

make yourself useful, Butch.

Honestly it would kinda tickle me to see him end up at a lower tier P5 team and have just enough success to frustrate the hell out of one or two top/mid tier teams each season.

But yeah, I hope he poisons Bama while he’s there, hey can’t ever recover, and it drives Saban into a viscous downward spiral that taints his legacy forever.

Greg Mcillissee was a pioneer.
