four-star junior wide receiver lance wilhoite of franklin road academy in nashville, tenn., the no. 1 prospect from tennessee in the industry-generated 247sports composite, is set to return to tennessee on friday. The 6-foot-2.5, 180-pound wilhoite, who's one of the vols' top in-state targets in the 2019 class, has visited tennessee multiple times in the past. But the trip to knoxville on friday will be his first since new tennessee coach jeremy pruitt's hiring in december.
Wilhoite is scheduled to stop at tennessee before traveling to clemson on saturday for the tigers' spring game.
He has received scholarship offers from more than 20 schools, including ohio state, clemson, florida state, louisville, auburn, florida, lsu, ole miss, mississippi state, penn state, south carolina, kentucky, vanderbilt and virginia tech.
Wilhoite is ranked the no. 89 overall prospect and no. 16 wide receiver in the 247sports composite for the 2019 class. He's also ranked by 247sports as the no. 204 overall player and no. 34 wide receiver in the 2019 class and the no. 7 junior from the state of tennessee.
Florida state hosted wilhoite on one of his latest visits more than a month ago, and he said after the trip to tallahassee, fla., that the seminoles were "high up" on his list of college choices. Ohio state, clemson and louisville are believed to be among the other main contenders for wilhoite.
Tennessee remains the favorite to land him, according to the 247sports crystal ball, with the vols getting approximately 67 percent of the current predictions. But the other 33 percent of the picks currently are going to florida state, which has received the two most recent predictions.
