Obviously would be a sensational get, but even if he goes the transfer route, I'm just not sure he comes here unfortunately. Literally every basketball program in the country would be asking him to come. It's not every day an All-American transfers.

No, I agree. It isn't a slam dunk he come here. But we offer quite a bit. A possible top-10 team in a winnable P5 league that returns a lot of talent and experience. We lack an additional PG and a guy that can go score in the paint and rebound. Williams is an above average scorer, but just an average (at best) rebounder.

Daum could play the 4 or 5, and at times, even the 3. He would have to understand that anywhere he goes, he probably isn't going to average 24-25 ppg. He'll no longer be the big fish in a small pond. He would be trading individual production for a better chance at winning on a high level and the exposure of playing better competition night in and night out.

Now he may be lured in by the idea and prestige of a UK, UNC, Kansas, etc., but I think we offer him a better opportunity to not get completely lost in the big names and stars.

Nice troll attempt.

Not trolling. Old ziti used to be concerned about things like us having 0 commits and 2 open scholarships and 90% of the players committed or signed.

But..... I was shown the way of the board. Barnes has got this. This is where the magic happens. Late April thru June is the sweet spot.

Interesting post from Rob Lewis over on VQ...

Said he isn’t suggesting Tennessee pulled the plug on Akinjo necessarily, but that he thinks the staff probably feels better about their chances of where they are with a graduate transfer PG. This is the last weekend before the 2 open periods for AAU start, and then after that school is out and campus is a much different vibe. So in summary if you bring in Akinjo and Miss then you’ve got to pull coaches off the road from AAU events to be on campus for other official visits.

Sounds to me like staff probably expects a commitment from Fore and wants to get a jump on 2019, if Akinjo was likely headed to Arizona then that makes sense...if he was truly open and giving Tennessee a chance it’s a bit disappointing.

Also in doing some twitter digging Fore was considered Richmond’s best perimiter defender by far, he typically picked up the opponents best player.

That was the one question I was hoping someone would be able to answer about this guy was if he was a good defender or not. If so then that's something we for sure need out on the perimeter

You all over here worried about 3-pt % and a voice of reason shows up to talk some sense in you guys

JMO but Barnes isn't going to choose a grad transfer on ability to score. His top priority will be their ability to defend.

While I have always understood your position and think it has some validity, April and May have now become huge in basketball recruiting. Grad transfers, regular transfers, and kids being released after coaching changes have become huge for schools. There are very impactful players that have committed this month to big schools, and more are coming.

Is it reasonable to say the voice of reason would have said this spot should have been filled months ago and not reaching on some grad transfer that a few teams want?

They pursued Simons, tough break...if they had pursued some guy ranked 150+ and landed him in February you would’ve complained that they should’ve aimed higher.

We should do better than whiffing.

Yes. No commits is good.

- new ziti.

Not sure anyone is saying it’s good, but again if they would’ve passed on Simons in fear of NBA and taken a guy ranked 175 instead that would’ve left a lot of people complaining too.

Maybe but when the roster is nearly complete one can afford to wait until the dust has settled and take a grad transfer that helps filll that last little need.

I hate the grad transfer rules but it does allow coaches to wait and fill very specific needs.

We get it dude. How many times are you going to repeat this?
