it's better today than it has been in a while, but you're right. in my lifetime, the 80's thru the mid 90's...the NBA was must see tv.

and i also agree with those that say MJ's killer instinct is unmatched. i'll go ahead and say i think Lebron is more talented.

but you put him and MJ on the court, against each other, MJ finds a way, period. i've seen just a rare few that were as competitive as he was, and that could perform at the level he did.

Some of you are overreacting to these spring ball position changes. Very few will be permanent. Pruitt said he was going to move guys around this spring to see where they can help and that's what he's doing. I know we're not use to it because Butch would never do such a thing but we have a real football coach now. He's going to do whatever it takes to win. If that means slide a DL over to OL this November if a couple guys get injured, that's what he's going to do. Best 22 on the field. I love Pruitt already.

He also said he could tell in a couple of practices if you have the tools to succeed in a new position. So he can kinda cycle guys in and out to get that info without losing much if it doesn't work. I think that is why butch couldn't do it because he wasn't quick enough on the evaluation to be able to cycle quickly. If he made a move it would be for the year because that's how long it took him to figure out it wouldn't work. Then it was almost too late to switch back because he wasted a year of developing at the wrong position. And I use the implication of butch developing players somewhat loosely. Haha

If Lebron had to try to get through the late 80's Pistons every year just to get a chance to play in the finals, we wouldn't be talking about this because he would have retired. He's a big guy but he is not tough enough to take the BEATINGS Jordan took. And how many people thought he was gonna win his first one against the Lakers?

I don't agree with that at all. James is bigger and stronger than every player on those Pistons teams. Seriously doubt they could overwhelm him physically.

The Sonics were legit when the Bulls beat them in the Finals, going 64-18. Kemp and Payton at their respective peaks... which was very good. Two years before, they won 63

The beginning of the Series got away from them, but then the Sonics destroyed them for two games.

I liked Kemp a lot wish he wouldn’t have gotten fat. Dude could dunk on anyone.

I appreciate the NBA game today, but nothing, and I mean nothing compares to the glory it was in the 80’s and 90’s. There’s more teams and less superstars than back then, so the quality of teams was far better. That Jordan essentially won 6 in a row when the NBA was at its peak only solidifies him as the GOAT. Like him not, there’s no debate.

Everything is a foul these days. MJ the GOAT but Lebron is my #2. MJ was a pure winner and as clutch as any athlete ever and Lebron is one of, if not the most physically gifted and talented players we’ve ever seen. Legends.

I get it its a discussion board but you all are putting way too much stock in these. They are experiments not changes. I doubt any other than say Bumphus or Crosby are actually position changes. Its spring ball, Pruitt is just shaking things up.

The way I understood it from Pruitt is that these switches to OL in particular are contingency planning in case we get ravaged with injuries in the season and he needs to switch guys over mid year to help. He’d rather let them get a turn there this spring than have them go there for the first time October. Made sense to me. Doubt many of these are permanent.

Jordan was the end to an era. I used to be a huge NBA fan. Hardley watch a game anymore. The laker, Boston, Pistons, and Bulls teams were awesome. Magic, Bird, Parish, Isah, Kareem, Worthy, Byron Scott, Rambis, Rodman, Dennis Johnson, McHale, Jordan, Pippen.... Man those were awesome times.

Truth. But I will say the Warriors are fun to watch just because of their ball movement offense. It's not just one guy dribbling for 20 seconds every possession. They assist on almost every basket. So I'll give them some credit. But I used to watch every game on tv back in the 80s and 90s and now I can barely get through a whole game without flipping through the channels and not having enough interest to go back to the game. It's mostly boring basketball now.

I think Ron is referring to the fact that he pisses and moans just about every game... And, true basketball is not played anymore like years ago... it is just a couple of passes, no defense, a three point shot or a slam dunk... Lebron would not be half the player he is today if he played his game now, back then... guys like Lambier, Parrish, and even Rodman would physically beat his butt...
