The fact the sonics won that many games in a few years talks to the weakness in the Western Conference during that era. The Lakers were aged and they posed the biggest threat to the bulls back then.

Also, I don’t think I said any were permanent, I acknowledged most were experiments, and ranked them most like to stick to least likely, IMO.

All is well I just got the feeling people were freaking out that Taylor was now a CB and Emerson was a our 3rd string OG.

Probably just got a slight case of the Bruins.

JMO - but maybe CJP is actually doing what he said he was doing. Trying some guys out at other positions in SP to see if he can develop more depth in a worst case scenario when he needs to get the best players on the field. I believe him. Think like real coaches and heal from the BVS.

Bumphus to D-line makes a great deal of sense to me. He played it well in HS and is perfectly suited for it physically in the 3-4. We know there is strong TE talent on the way for 2019 and there is a major league juco reporting soon for this season. Byrd to offense makes sense now. He's two years removed from D along with some adjustment/attitude issues from the past it appears. See if Johnson and Helton can develop and use him. If not he will probably leave and open a spot.

Emerson to O is just a look see IMO. Crosby to O may have a better chance of happening, depends on how he performs there. If Coleman is giving them what they want as a power back, then Fant will end up at TE/H-back or ILB IMO. They are simply looking at his best fit. I agree that Taylor getting a look at CB is a direct reflection of the concern they have at that position. Thin depth and he wants to make sure he can plug a talented guy in there if needed.

SP gives them a chance to look at what type of players they are in their brains, hearts and physical skillsets.

Reneging on a previous post here to add that those actions in and of themselves aren’t bad. But the ways MJ did them would definitely be labeled “problematic” today.

Some are upset because Lebron wore shoes that said “King” the other day. Jordan would call opponents “f***ing midgets” and it wasn’t even newsworthy back in the day.


As for the gambling...well the fact that there are many who believe that both Jordan’s sabbatical from the NBA and his father’s murder can be traced back to Jordan’s gambling and the fact that there are TONS of stories about him spending nights out gambling before games would get terrible publicity today. FWIW the latter of those three things just adds to his on the court greatness IMO, but not all would see it that way.

Also wouldn’t surprise me if we see all or most of those 3 DL get moved back to DL, but see some times in short yardage packages.

bottom line, they'll at least now have an idea of what these players look like at these positions and will be better prepared when/if situations present that require their services.....ideally it will be because of choice, as you said, specific packages for specific situations. hopefully it won't be because they "have to".:thumbsup:

Some of you are overreacting to these spring ball position changes. Very few will be permanent. Pruitt said he was going to move guys around this spring to see where they can help and that's what he's doing. I know we're not use to it because Butch would never do such a thing but we have a real football coach now. He's going to do whatever it takes to win. If that means slide a DL over to OL this November if a couple guys get injured, that's what he's going to do. Best 22 on the field. I love Pruitt already.

The other side of this is maybe some of them really take to their new position and excel somewhat unexpectedly. Then we find out early they should be moved permanently and they get spring and summer to develop and maybe make a difference this fall when they may have only been rotational in the old position. A little unlikely but without these moves now we wouldn't have a chance to find out.

Guys old enough to have watched MJ play (back when the NBA was good) know what I'm talking about. Sorry that you missed it. The NBA hasn't been the same since that era. Gone way downhill. Can't even play defense anymore, bunch of whiny babies flopping all over the floor, it's embarrassing.

yep, and why not already have the answer to that question now, vs. in November?

i swear, when butch said he didn't put JG under center at the goal line against FL b/c he hadn't practiced it....mercy.:banghead2::censored::pinch:

yeah, this guy is definitely different than what we've been used to the last 5 years.

My thoughts exactly. Not uncommon at all to see DL brought in for goal line situations. To me, this is the #1 purpose of this DL/OL experiment.

Whoa whoa.

I’m a young folk and I love the basketball they played in the 80s and 90s. Would rather watch that honestly. There’s a few of us out there who love the game the way it used to be played.
