Recruiting Forum Football Talk LVII

Umm....that’s not my scenario?

The whole premise of my post was that it’s unlikely all of these moves are permanent followed by a ranking of most to least likely to stick.

The DL guys being moved were all in my bottom 3, FWIW.

Easy tiger, dang, you laid out "what if's" on some D linemen moving to O Line... Seems like you are pretty dialed in, so I asked who that would leave us on the D line if any of this took shape.... Knee-jerk much?

I get it its a discussion board but you all are putting way too much stock in these. They are experiments not changes. I doubt any other than say Bumphus or Crosby are actually position changes. Its spring ball, Pruitt is just shaking things up.

It’s the offseason, talking hypotheticals about which of these experiments might stick is just about the best football talk we have to discuss without rehashing some other topic that’s been discussed/argued ad nauseum for the he past few months.

The Suns were a damn fine team back in the day.

And the Jazz could beat today’s teams. The Trailblazers of that era twice as good as the Mavs team that beat LeBron’s Dream Heat in 6. And don’t forget the Knicks teams Jordan frustrated ON THE WAY to the Finals, year in and year out. They didn’t just invent basketball.

Your scenario of moving all these D linemen to OL, what does that leave us left in terms of depth on the D Line?

I think our D Line has much more depth right now and there's like 5 more D Linemen coming in the Fall. But as others have stated most of those moves aren't permanent. Pruitt even stated he's just kinda getting a baseline to see if they could be used there if injuries happen or possibly for certain goal line packages where they want to bring extra linemen in but don't have enough o linemen right now to do it.

Let’s just reset this because I think one or both of us started off misunderstanding one another:

I don’t think all of these DL/OL moves will stick. If they somehow did, then our starting DL wouldn’t change at all, but whoever is backing them up would probably change a bit.

I’m not sure Butler or Crosby were in our top 5-6 DL. I’d assumed Emerson was based on some practice reports, but reporters aren’t seeing much so that doesn’t mean a lot. If Bumphus excels on the DL, it could potentially cancel out that loss, I guess.

It’s basically impossible to tell because nobody on here knows exactly what the coaches are thinking, how they view the guys in these experiments, or why their theoretical depth chart would be at the moment.

IMO, it’s fun to speculate about though.

Ahhh, yes forgot about the D linemen coming in the Fall. I knew Pruitt is just trying kids out, giving them experience to see if anyone can truly play another position if needed, but wanted to know where that would put us depth wise on the D line if any guys stuck. We all know how our D line depth has suffered over the past few years, and now with K-Mac gone and Quay Piquo leaving, I wanted to see who we had left... Thanks

If Lebron had to try to get through the late 80's Pistons every year just to get a chance to play in the finals, we wouldn't be talking about this because he would have retired. He's a big guy but he is not tough enough to take the BEATINGS Jordan took. And how many people thought he was gonna win his first one against the Lakers?

Thanks--- And Sleegro reminded me of the D linemen we have coming in. Yes, it's fun to speculate and nice to have a coach finally who is willing to look at things from different angles in order to win. Who knows, I could definitely a goal line or big third down situation where we could bring in some fresh, rested D linemen and tell them to plug the holes and take someone's head off...

The coaches are moving players around to see where they fit best and for position flexibility. In other words, they’re moving certain guys around because they think they have potential there or can contribute.

Like you said, it’s a discussion forum. Of course it’s worth discussing.

Also, I don’t think I said any were permanent, I acknowledged most were experiments, and ranked them most like to stick to least likely, IMO.

Mine was when the reporter asked 2 questions and he answered the second one, then the reporter tried to remind him of the first question and he just grinned and said "Yeah I skipped that one" and moved on to the next reporter. hahaha so good. :lolabove:

The other one where he was talking about his body language after the first pitch and his wife calling him out for getting on his players for that and not leading by example was great too. Self deprecating and admitting he didn't handle it well with a funny anecdote showed some character IMO.

Never let a Finals series go to 7 games...unbelievable in perspective.

Easy Rish.

If Jordan played in the twitter era, he’d have been made out to be the greatest sports villain of all time. He’s the GOAT on the court, but an objectively much worse person than many of our current NBA stars.

With the way reporters use social media to rile up the ignorant over KD’s ill-considered tweets, Lebron writing a passive aggressive word on his shoes, or Steph Curry having political opinions, no telling how he’d have been raked over the coals for the way he trash talked opponents, bullied teammates, and gambled.

Pruitt wants the best players on the field. People have been *****ing about Butch playing guys like Jumper over better players are now whining about Pruitt trying to get the best guys on the field to win football games. VN is awesome.

He doesn’t come across well in retirement. His HOF acceptances were viral cringefests. He’s a spiteful, bitter a-hole...and the GOAT.

No Jordan, Lebron talk in the recruiting forum.

Jordan #1
Lebron #2

All time imo. Both are/were BEAST. Haven’t seen anything like either and probably never will. Both are All-time Legends.

I’m sorry if I left you the impression I was at all complaining about any of these moves. I wasn’t.

Show me where Jordan ever beat a team better than the spurs or warriors in the playoffs. Hint. You can’t.

Supersonic fan here... currently no NBA team, but I digress...

The Sonics were legit when the Bulls beat them in the Finals, going 64-18. Kemp and Payton at their respective peaks... which was very good. Two years before, they won 63

The beginning of the Series got away from them, but then the Sonics destroyed them for two games.

Sometimes the traits that can make someone GREAT simultaneously make that person a total a**hole or even a borderline sociopath.
