Recruiting Discussion

Any word of if he has a UT offer after watching the workout? I know the recruiting sites can be a bit behind when it comes to offers sometimes

Doesn’t look like it, seems as though Tennessee is gonna hold off on doing much until after Akinjo’s OV this weekend.

Ashton Hagans to Kentucky o boy ..

Not a surprise. They will be loaded again. Look for Quade Green to possibly seek a transfer, and this may push Diallo toward the NBA draft. Assuming Hagans reclassified for 2018, UK is bringing in 4 guards in this class, two 5* PGs and two SGs (a 5* and a 4*).

And still won’t win a National Title.

Ehh, I'm on the fence about that yet. Obviously, if Gabriel, Washington, Vanderbilt, and Diallo all return, then they have the experience they have recently lacked to go with the immense talent.

Let's assume they lose Green to transfer, but also only lose Knox and SGA to the draft, then they have a balance of JRs, SOs, and FR with a wealth of talent.

Quickly, Hagans, Herro, Johnson, Montgomery added to SOs Washington, Richards, Vanderbilt, and JRs Diallo and Gabriel plus getting back Jemarl Baker from injury. That's a ton of talent, size, length, and now, experience. I wouldn't write them off of a national title, and they will once again be the favorites to win the SEC.

The word is that Cal is pushing Diallo to go

If true, that's shameful. Diallo is as ready for the NBA as you or I, yet...if true...Cal is gonna push him out because he knows the kid just isn't good for his system. So much for Cal's "I only care about the kids" campaign.

He does this every year because he has promised their minutes to an incoming Freshman.

and still won't beat Tennessee

Looked up Davonte Gaines profile this morning. Rivals still doesn't have him evaluated. 247 gave him a 4* rating early on but he has plummeted since then. Think he was around 150 or so not too long ago but has now dropped to 204.

Doesn't look like he's picked up any offers since committing to us. Wouldn't expect him to get a ton of offers since he's committed. If his stock was climbing like we all thought it would I think we would have seen some schools in the NE come after him. His offer list is not good.

Hard to believe he's been committed since July. How's he doing in AAU/HS ball this spring?

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a school offer a committed basketball recruit.

Also not sure if he will be playing AAU ball, I could see him heading straight to Hargrave but I could be wrong.

That's a good point. It definitely happens because you see kids decommit sometimes once they know they have other options that they prefer. But I guess it doesn't happen publicly like in football.

I forgot about him going to Hargrave. That should be good for him.

Oh for sure there’s some back channel stuff that goes on, we just don’t ever hear about it...Andrew Slater of 247 watched him in March, only thing I saw mentioned from him though was “Getting a look at Tennessee commit Davonte Gaines 6’7” wiry southpaw with excellent athleticism”.

Hargrave will definitely give a better picture as to what kind of prospect he is.

He’s posting triple doubles and double doubles with ease from what I’ve seen on twitter.
