This is a terrible first pitch. Maybe we should just fire him already?!

Not everyone can throw one like W.

Still probably the best first pitch ever considering the circumstances combined with the actual pitch. Chills

Yep one hell of a moment.

Almost as good as when he said "I hear you, the rest of the world hears you and the men that knocked these walls down are going to hear us all soon"

These players are wearing grey/black?

Why aren’t they embracing the orange? Asking for my friend

OK, I get it. Everyone thought it was stupid. I don't post a ton on here, but I think most of the regulars recognize me. I think my posts are reasonable, I don't try to stir up a bunch of crap. And, it's a legitimate thought I've had when keeping up with signing day, spring baw, and other offseason activities. :mf_surrender:

Haha. We’re just giving you a hard time, don’t sweat it. There’s nothing else to do around here in April anyways

George W was a man. Tremendous leader. I still remember the strength he showed as he was reading a book to some students when he was told we were attacked.

so what happens if they lose in the 1st round? they didn't meet the "expectation", so what happens now?

i still think that word "expectation" gets used around here so frequently, people really get bogged down by it.

as competitors, yes, they should all expect to win everytime they take the field, court etc.....i don't think anyone's saying they shouldn't. something would definitely be wrong if they didn't.

but if i'm placing expectations on someone/something, it's because i have reason to believe i should expect a certain result, and if that result is not achieved, then i've been "let down".

you have all the requisite tools/resources/manpower etc....necessary to achieve "x", then go achieve it. in my mind there's really not a reason you shouldn't based on that.

now, take something out of that equation, and my expectation may get lowered, while understanding that gap needs to be filled to meet the 'standard' going forward....

i don't look at the 2018 Vols and think all the gaps are filled. i do look down the road and see a group of coaches and administrators trying to fill them, and i feel pretty good about that.

It's pretty simple for me. If we have more resources than an opponent, have outrecruited them and can put more talent on the field and have the staff to match or outcoach them, I expect to beat them. If we don't, I'm going to be disappointed. If we keep losing to teams that I think we should beat, I'm going to be mad. I'm not lowering expectations because I don't want to be "let down."

i don't think you got what i was saying at all.

I love my Vols but let’s be honest.... not all white people can rock orange.

All my Vols gear is white or grey with orange logos.

I'm so with you, man. No idea why people get so beaten down and let it ruin their fandom. I mean, we only have so many Saturdays in the fall to watch our favorite teams. We have a new staff, new hope! I'm pumped to watch Pruitt's boys compete this fall. Sounds like at the very least they'll be fundamentally sound, tough SOB's out there, or they'll be on the bench. I'm ready to cheer for a team like that.

People already writing this season and/or Pruitt off really should rethink what they're doing here and maybe go find another hobby. This might not be a good fit. JMO

GO BIG MFING ORANGE

I can speak only for myself, but ever since the UF and UGA games I have been in a perpetuate state of total apathy as it pertains to football. Not necessarily negative, just no longer have any expectations at all.

I come here for any glimmer of hope it’ll turn around. Hopefully that will happen soon.

i think that glimmer happened in November. while the national media was making fun of us, we were busy getting our athletic program back.

won't have any bearing on 2018 mind you.

but i think the future looks pretty good.

If we get into another low-scoring slogfest of a game vs UF this year, and I think we will, I can see Pruitt and this staff finally getting over the hump. I don't think he will have late-game coaching meltdowns like Butch did that caused us to lose extremely winnable games in 2014, 2015, and 2017.

Goes for all other opponents as well, but UF still sucks, and I definitely see that game being tight all the way through the 4th quarter, as usual.

WVU will set a tone, but Florida could really show us what this staff is about, at least in relation to this year's squad.

Big difference between a neutral-site OOC match-up and a despised rival coming into our house. If UF's QB's/offense hasn't yet taken off under Mullen by game time, this could be a chance for the staff to really win over the players and get them to buy in.

Buy-in is big in my book. It's momentum on a season(s)-long scale. An early W against Florida is turning the page from the last staff, maybe the last decade, for both the fans and the players (particularly those who traveled to Gainesville in 2015 and 2017). We could still very well be hamstrung by OL depth, but a win against Florida could propel us to W's against Carolina or Mizzou, just by showing our guys that they can do it.

Who are some guys you think from inherited roster become solid pieces this season with change in staff?

My top 3 are Shamburger, jordan Murphy and Ryan Johnson. Vq seems to think Buchanon Is taking the step which is very nice to hear.

i didn't use chandler because seems obvious

Along the OL, hopefully Tatum or Niehaus.

Seeing "a lot" in practice reports about Brandon Johnson looking very smooth/polished.

I'd really love to see Kyle Phillips (or Kongbo) emerge as one of those guys opposing offenses have to gameplan around.
