Quarterback Jarrett Guarantano has expectedly been the best quarterback this spring by a wide margin. Guarantano has made plays, including building a nice connection with sophomore Jordan Murphy, who has been one of those guys making a play when Pruitt speaks vaguely of the offense making a play in practice. Another wideout turning heads is sophomore Josh Palmer. His route running is said to be improved and he is holding on to the ball when it’s thrown his way with much more consistency.

All of that is great to read. I wouldn’t be surprised if both Calloway and B. Johnson have good enough years to declare, so we need some of these sophomores to step up. And by all accounts, Murphy was a very talented receiver who just got hurt last year. Meanwhile Palmer got good playing time but unfortunately I remember him dropping far more than he caught.

Add to it Latrel hopefully staying healthy and we could have a very talented young core of receivers.

The Lady Vols' slide has been roughly correlated with the decline of the football program. In my opinion, the administrations' tolerance of the rot in that program is indicative of their overall apathy about the state of UT athletics in general.

Bottom line: even if you don't care about women's bball, the Lady Vols' return to prominence will be a good sign that the AD as a whole is moving in the right direction.

We just haven’t cared about winning for about 15+ years.

We have prioritized comfort and our power people are interested in self preservation instead of trying to win.

do we have a list of visitors this weekend? seems like there's going to be a fairly big crowd....

I just wish she would resign.

Can't see that happening until she's ready to retire. She's not going quietly.

UT seldom demands or invests in winning at a high level. Unless individual coaches are motivated to rise above expectations, our athletic programs enjoy moderate success and lately, not even that. Over time, expectations have been tempered until fans rejoice at making the postseason. UT is no longer relevant in sports we once dominated because the coaches who demanded elite performance were replaced by those who embodied the "good enough" mentality of UT's indifferent leadership.

Maybe this will change with Pruitt. It seems to be changing with Barnes, but it's unlikely to change at all with Holly.

It has to change with Fulmer. If it doesn’t we will just have to get a self motivated coach like you said. The equivalent of hiring the Weekly’s in another sport.

I'm very interested where Vegas has us for preseason win totals. I think they either have us at 5 with negative odds or 5.5 with positive odds. If it opens at 6 I would have even more optimism for the season

I hope Fulmer can be the change agent we need. But he's already slackening the rope on WBB. It may be a non-revenue sport, but it's a sport that UT put on the map. Pat Summitt made the LVs her life's work and I think UT needs to be committed to keeping the program elite. I agree with your earlier comments-- UT tends to wait a year too long to shed failing coaches, and we've seen how costly that extra year of mismanagement can be.
