2017 LSU: 3rd place in the West (Alabama was 2nd); 9-4 (6-2)
2016 Texas A&M: 4th; 8-5 (4-4)
2015 Arkansas: 3rd; 8-5 (5-3)
2014 Ole Miss; 3rd; 9-4 (5-3)
2013 Auburn; 1st (Alabama was 2nd); 12-2 (7-1)
2012 Mississippi State; 4th 8-5 (4-4)
2011 LSU and Arkansas, 1st and 3rd respectively, with Alabama 2nd.

Since 2008, we've had two opponents from the west with a conference record below 4-4. Ole Miss in 2010 and MSU in 2008.

Hopefully things swing our way this year and Auburn isn't the hot s*** many are expecting them to be.

Bigger turnaround in 2018... Pruitt or Mullen?

I think Pruitt could make a bigger turnaround and win fewer games than Mullen, if that makes sense. UF gets to play 2 FCS teams this year and their west opponents shouldn't be as tough as ours.

So I'm gonna say Mullen comes out ahead in the win column year one, but I think Pruitt makes a bigger improvement on our team than Mullen does on theirs (if that makes any sense).

I can dig it

They're extending Holly for recruiting and negotiating the backend to limit the buyout. They'll probably bump bonuses to incentivize performance. Not sure how the numbers will work out. Fulmer wasn't going to fire her his first year and UT wants distance between messy coaching searches. She was never going to be fired this year.

I just wish she would resign.

Is it just me, or do all the local media continuously whine about their limited access to practice?

I for one am glad coach has restricted access. After the way the team has been covered recently it serves them right. They're an unnecessary distraction that has been mitigated. I love it.

Like others on here I am very happy that is the case. Most would rip him a new one at the first opportunity whether it was justified or not. There are a handful we can trust to tell it straight, the others are blood suckers. Phil knows how it goes with them, so CJP has him to run interference.

They had no choice with Holly if she did not resign IMO. They need the good recruiting class to keep the roster solid for the next coach. Phil needs a year or so to work on her replacement. At her age and with the same staff they will not be getting any smarter as coaches, so it's going to be more of the same BS. If she lucks up to the talent and makes Elite 8 again she can hang on even another year after that. Sickening, but true. I just don''t think they think of women's basketball as being all that now.

Good question, nick. IMO both will improve significantly because the players will work and play hard for both. I'm partial to CJP though. I like the system and schemes on both sides of the ball he is bringing versus only the offensive scheme with Mullen.

I am not a women's basketball fan whatsoever and I understand why they are giving her another year. But.....I am hoping that after next season they pop her just because we need to decide that we want to win at what we are supposed to win at. Making decisions to keep coaches another year just because is such a loser mentality.

We kept Butch a year too long. We kept Dave Serrano until his flippin contract ran out. We let Terrible Todd Raleigh run the baseball program into the ground. We let Dooley have an extra year. Holly Warlick has proven she is an assistant coach. We need to start demanding excellence from these millionaire coaches and stop keeping them on the payroll a year or two after we have seen the writing on the wall.

Anything of note from last night's War Room?

Freshman Jacob Warren, who has added 10-15 pounds, had what many feel was his best week this week. Warren still has a long ways to go in terms of strength and weight, but he is a guys who's shown growth and improvement thought the first half of spring practice.

Quarterback Jarrett Guarantano has expectedly been the best quarterback this spring by a wide margin. Guarantano has made plays, including building a nice connection with sophomore Jordan Murphy, who has been one of those guys making a play when Pruitt speaks vaguely of the offense making a play in practice. Another wideout turning heads is sophomore Josh Palmer. His route running is said to be improved and he is holding on to the ball when it’s thrown his way with much more consistency.

The Lady Vols' slide has been roughly correlated with the decline of the football program. In my opinion, the administrations' tolerance of the rot in that program is indicative of their overall apathy about the state of UT athletics in general.

Bottom line: even if you don't care about women's bball, the Lady Vols' return to prominence will be a good sign that the AD as a whole is moving in the right direction.

Carolina and Tampa Bay have already blazed the trail.

Yup. Peter Laviolette has already done it once too. I grew up in Raleigh and a Canes fan. 2006 when Laviolette won it with the Canes was one of the most exciting hockey years of my life, until last year with the Preds at least. I hope the Preds can top both this year.
