Even if you're just talking physical gifts, they are not in the same universe.

LeBron James is a transcendent generational athlete. There's been no one close to him physically. And definitely not this kid.

Bro I said at the same age. You’re beyond incompetent. I wish I had the dope you have in your little universe

What do you guys make of Kiffin saying Pruitt is the best DC in CFB?

We desperately need that to be true. We need an edge somewhere. He needs to win some he shouldn't this year and next to get serious fan buy-in/national attention after the Dooley and Jones debacles, and when he does that, recruiting can really take off.

I think he is definitely a T1 defensive mind.

Question to Nigel Warrior about the difference between instruction meetings this year vs last year?

Nigel: These guys expect us to know what we're doing. They expect us to know every last thing, everything, inside and out. That's just different.

Translation. We didn’t know what in the hell we were doing last year. (Bob Shoop sucks)

I will say that if two completely different coaching staffs that have sufficient time can’t develop a player (e.g., Byrd), then it is the player’s fault. We’ve had 6 practices with Pruitt so it’s too soon to judge on any of these guys. But it will be interesting to watch over the course of this year.

Byrd, Kongbo, Philips and Richmond are some of the “elite” recruits Butch landed that haven’t lived up to the billing. Be interesting to see what Pruitt and staff can make of them. If they don’t develop it kind of makes me wonder if that’s how Butch landed them in the first place (i.e., other staffs had them lower on their boards and Butch was able to snag them).

Again all of this talk is fairly premature at this point.

It makes me think that maybe the former staff sold a soft lazy "country club" atmosphere to kids predisposed towards those traits?

I legitimately don’t care what Kiffin thinks; he’s lost that level of respect with me.

However he may be right. The data points to Pruitt being top shelf. Three(!) different programs and all made statistical improvements with Pruitt at the helm.

I just don't buy that Shoop is a bad coach. I'm sure that there is a story there.

Coached defense for teams that were offensively anemic and faced vanilla game plans from teams trying to win by scoring 20 and protecting the ball.

Had good assistants that have had even more success without him.

Wasn’t ready for the big time.

ATHENS, Ga. -- As Rush Propst remembers it, the call came sometime around 11 p.m. It was his wife and this guy Jeremy was standing at the door.
Propst, back then in 2004, was building a high school empire at Hoover High School. After winning two consecutive state titles, he had a defensive back coaching vacancy and a stack of impressive resumes. In fact, they were about to pull the trigger on a top candidate when Jeremy Pruitt made a house call.
