Maybe JC can confirm or refute but I have been told Sanders told a sulking player to sit out of a drill and the kid refused to take a knee. Sanders then Forced him to the ground by striking his Helmet.

Without seeing exactly how it happened It's hard to take sides. Could been either side of the line imo

One whiny little malcontent is causing all this trouble. It's seems a shame to me.

One thing we have to remember when we are acting like practice reports Are conflicting to our coaches own words.

Media Members are literally watching the team stretch and the first 5-10 minutes of practice. They aren't watching much of anything

I will take the coaches words any day about what is going on.

That's a good philosophy. Just bear in mind they aren't really going to tell us much either, and that's the way that I like it.

...and Walter Johnson, Christy Matthewson, Honus Wagner and Babe Ruth. Additionally, Cobb and Matthewson served together in the Chemical Service in WW1 in Europe, where Matthewson was accidentally gassed, eventually leading to his death.

I liked this for the historical perspective, not because Christy Matthewson got gassed.

Biggest surprise so far this spring?

For me to this point in very limited viewing is that the receivers are going to be a much improved group. That position has the greatest difference in coaching.

I won't be stunned if Byrd went back to offense. Not saying he will but I won't be stunned. I could see Blakley back to defense. I think Fils-Aime and Fant stick.

I'm curious to see if they move Bumphus around

The defense will be better because it can’t possibly get worse. 2015 might be pushing it. I want to say we were 37th in total D that year. That’s pretty damn good. But, we just need to be physical. Last year’s defense was Charmin soft.

I will give Botch some credit...he knew how to mask bad offensive line play. And those 2015 and 2016 O-lines weren’t good at all. We’d get most of our rushing yards on outside zone plays from the shotgun and, of course, the read option. We’ll have some good tight ends and tackles (assuming Trey is healthy) so we’ll probably run outside with Chandler a lot this year.

In 2015, those outside zones would work really well until the defense would adjust and figure out that we couldn’t run up the gut effectively. Noticed that when I rewatched the OU and Arkansas games. Those outside zones destroyed OU and Arky, for awhile.

The 2015 and 2016 OLs weren’t good, but it helped to have a a QB who could do this when they messed up

Highlights: Tennessee 63, Missouri 37 (Nov. 19, 2016) - YouTube

Edit: messed up the link. Referenced play is at 1:23

Sanders should have just kicked his sorry puny arse off the team..I didn't like Sanders as OC, but he has always been an upstanding guy in my book. I hope this little weasel doesn't ruin him.

If these are legit I definitely like them. Love everything except the number font. Kinda looks like the Bucs numbers

Edit: obviously just a replica since there’s no stitching etc but still looks good imo

Will Friend - the leader of our offensive line group

In Friend's 3 years at Colorado State their run game ranked, #33, #31, and #31 nationally. QB yardage on the ground was negligible all 3 years. Last year while Alabama held opponents to below 95 rushing yards per game on average, Friend's boys managed 144 in Tuscaloosa. We had 108 yards total offense against Bama; Friend had 391. Bama's defense gave up an average of 260 yards in total offense per game last year.

Friend's OL talent at Colorado State were 2-stars and low 3-stars. While Alabama had some injuries to their LB corps, I still think that was pretty good.

It was the first time Alabama's defense allowed over 300 yards of offense at home to a non-conference opponent since 2011 (Georgia Southern, 341 yards).

Of the two moved to DB, who would have thought the Fils-Aime would be the one to stick instead of Byrd.

Yep. I’ve been prettt adamant defending Byrd and saying we shouldn’t write him off just yet, but if he does get moved back to offense, then it seems like his days are probably numbered here.

Seems like the WR corps is on pace to be surprisingly decent without him. Athletically, Taylor seems pretty similar to Byrd. Unless something about Johnson’s coaching just somehow resonates with Byrd, I think another’s position change would be a bad sign for his future. IMO Pruitt and Kelly are probably our strongest teachers as position coaches. If they can’t get something out of Byrd, I’m not sure anybody here will.

His CSU unit’s really improved in pass pro as well. It took a season for the results to show there, though. They were actually worse his first year there in sacks, but significantly better in year 2 and great after that.

How were his lines at Georgia?
