I think this year’s roster is good enough for 5 or 6 wins. But I don’t assume Jeremy Pruitt is going to be perfect as a first time head coach. He’s going to have some hiccups that could cost us a game somewhere.

Last year’s roster was still just two dropped balls (Johnson against USCe and Warrior against UK) from 6 wins. In an incredibly toxic situation.

Missouri is a toss up. Their offense was good against bad defenses last year, but struggled against defenses with a pulse. Their defense was below average as well.


That game this year probably comes down to how healthy we are going into it.

Coleman and Sutton was a decent combo. Coleman is still playing in the NFL. He was on the Seahawks last year.

Agree about Maggit and Johnson, but Maggit didn’t play in 2013.

That's right, it was 2014 that they were all on the field together.

Agree that Coleman is a good player, but he was pretty slow as a pure corner. Nickel was his spot, for sure.

I apologize for getting on everyone's nerves. I am not trolling for a fight, I have just been speaking my honest take on a lot of our players. Letting freaking Vanderbilt and Kentucky abuse them like they didn't care one iota really stuck in my craw.

To Laager...of course I don't think every guy on the team was like that. But they were too few to make a difference.

I will try to desist from being overly critical.

At both UGA and Colorado St, his OL unit reduced sacks allowed every year he was there, while averaging 5+ YPC from his second year onward.

I needed to see the numbers with my own eyes before a blind buy-in based on quotes from peers and recruits. Dude's forreal.

Coleman just signed for $2.9 MM for another year with Seattle. Played some outstanding NB last season.

Don’t sweat it. You’re a good poster even if we seemingly never agree 😂

Keep posting, I think we all have varying degrees of frustration at times. Shows more sometimes than others for all of us. Those who are around often know you aren’t trolling or looking for a fight.

He clearly improves and has a great YPC through his coaching career.

Feleipe Franks has been a huge disappointment to date while Kyle Trask has yet to see any meaningful action at any level of football — he didn’t start for his high school football team. Based on the stats Franks put up during the first scrimmage of spring practice in Gainesville, there’s a lot of work to be done.

According to Robbie Andreu of the Gainesville Sun, and shared by Edgar Thompson of the Orlando Sentinel, Trask put Franks to shame during the Friday scrimmage:

True freshman Emory Jones also got some action in the scrimmage, but he didn’t do much with his opportunity. Here are his numbers according to Jake Winderman of ESPN Gainesville: 2 for 9 passing for negative three yards. He also rushed the ball four times for 15 yards.

Progress shouldn’t be expected to come overnight for Franks, after all, it took Dak Prescott nearly three years before he showed much in the same offense at Mississippi State, but this performance has to be somewhat unsettling for Gator fans. Florida has a tricky SEC opponent the second weekend of the season in Kentucky before traveling to Tennessee two weeks later.

If Franks can’t figure it out, Neyland Stadium looks to be one daunting first road start for Trask or Jones next season.

In terms of arm talent, Trask sits on pretty equal footing with Franks. He can sling it just as far down the field, and the two have traded off being the most accurate quarterback in practice from day to day.

One day Trask will outperform Franks. The next Franks will get the better of Trask.

Oh, it's not merely a thought. He's Franks' only challenger. Jake and Jones are SIGNIFICANTLY behind Franks and Trask. Just from the open practices I've gone to, it's a huge drop off to Nos. 3 and 4.

When Derek Dooley first introduced himself as Missouri’s new offensive coordinator, he said you could call the Tigers’ offense a “pro-style” one, though even he admittedly wasn’t quite sure what that meant.

On Tuesday, after his first spring practice with Mizzou, the eccentric Georgia native who has never before been an offensive coordinator provided an even more vague term for what system the Tigers will run: “Wikipedia.”

“That’s what it is,” Dooley said. “Our offense — Wikipedia right now. Everyday, you kind of go on there, there’s a new sentence. I wonder who added that.”

The terminology has changed a bit, though. The voice of the man making the play calls has, too.

“It is interesting how Coach Dooley says one word, (and) because of an accent, it sounds different than the way others say it,” Odom joked.

Though the Tigers signed six wide receivers to its most recent recruiting class, only two of them — junior college transfer Harry Ballard III and early enrollee Dominic Gicinto, from Raytown — are on the spring depth chart. The rest should arrive during the summer.

Missouri returns just four receivers who caught passes a season ago: Emanuel Hall, Nate Brown, Johnathon Johnson and Richaud Floyd. J’Mon Moore, who recorded 1,000-yard receiving seasons during each of the past two years, has graduated, and senior quarterback Drew Lock will need a new favorite target.

“We’re really thin there,” Dooley said. “I mean, really thin at receiver. … That’s a real concern for us.”

Dooley said much of the offense is still “foreign” to Lock, who decided to come back to school rather than turn pro early. The quarterback wants to take snaps from under center, something he rarely if ever did during his first three seasons at MU.

“It’s not something you just get in a day,” Dooley said. “You have to go out there and run it, run it, run it, run it and make some mistakes. Hopefully, the mistakes he makes in practice, he learns from.”
