I’m with this. As fans our brains are built to love everything “our” guy does until he/she proves themselves unworthy of that support.

The only thing that really matters in the next calendar year is recruiting and development. The season is very likely to be garbage. Let’s get to 2019.

I'm thinking 6, maybe 7 wins next year. 2019 should be a pretty solid year if we have the right guy IMO.

Need restaurant recommendations for pigeon forge/Gatlinburg first time taking the family.

Three Jimmys on the corner of glades and 321 has great food (you might get slow service, but the food is very good), crystelle creek just down 321 toward Cosby has as great a setting as anywhere you'll find (go after dark), Cherokee grill is downtown and consistently good.

Jeremy Pruitt should win National Coach of the Year if he gets this team to 6 wins.

This is the worst roster in UT history - or damn close.

Couple that with the headaches that come with a total scheme change on both sides of the ball and it’s a recipe for a rough year.

Not to mention the fact we have a first time head coach with two first time coordinators. I understand we like them and have confidence they will be successful - I just wouldn’t bet on it Year 1.

I think 6 should be the expectation. 3 non conference cupcakes, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt should all be wins. We'll just need one more out of Florida, Missouri, South Carolina and West Virginia. Depth and talent concerns up front on both sides of the ball along with growing pains have me reaching that prediction.

I’ll just say last year was terrible.

Yes it was.

Coaching and a lost lockeroom. Not a terrible roster

I think we could be this years ND. Awful year in 16(4-8) then played great In 17(10-3).
We could do something similar just at a smaller
Jump in wins because of a tougher schedule

Last year was terrible but the roster wasn’t and isn’t.

I’m slightly more optimistic on the roster too. I think we’ve got enough to cobble together 6 wins. M

There is zero question in my mind this roster is better than 2010 and 2013. We made a bowl and narrowly missed one in those years.

I don't think this a good roster. Middle of the road in the SEC at best IMO. I don't think it's a terrible one though. The roster Jones inherited in 2013 is far worse I think.

We have been thru enough coaching changes around here to Know in everyone of these there is a "new standard" and the new way is heaven while the old way was hell. I recall so much buzz about the new culture when Lane got here. Fulmer didn't know how to run a practice during that time per the buzz

This is truth. Wins are the only thing that matter.

Agree with most of the recommendations. I would rate Peddlers in Gatlinburg as #1, Chop House in Pigeon Forge as #2, Park Grill in Gatlinburg as #3, and the Old Mill as #4. Probably the very best food in Gatlinburg is at the Buckhorn Inn. But it is pricey and not really a family restaurant. Reservations are required and you must prepay. But the food and service is very, very good.

No way. Not even close.

If you say that after looking at Dooley's first year and Butch's first year, then no one can help you.

Indeed. This happens with every new coach. Lots of optimism from former players, lots of optimism about practice reports. But I’m in “show me” mode.

And by the way, this is not in any way a criticism of anyone bringing this info to the board. I love reading it. It’s also not a criticism of people who get more excited than me about this stuff. I just personally prefer a wait and see approach at this point.

I forgot about buckhorn... it is very good, but you'll need to call a good bit ahead to make reservations this time of year.

The Buckhorn Inn operates on a little bit different concept than other restaurants. Each evening dinner has a single entrée special for that day. The meal comes with a soup, salad, entrée, and dessert. Each course is very good. I think the cost is $35 per person. If you don't like the entree offering for that evening either go another evening or go to another restaurant. Check out the menus on their website.

there's ?'s pretty much everywhere on the roster, sure. but i think if the OL were in better shape, most everyone's opinion of the roster as a whole would be better than it is today.

This team has a better roster than UK, Vandy, Mizzou and SCAR-- all of whom beat us last year with lesser talent. No reason they should this year. Factor in the cupcakes and the floor should be 7 wins, with toss ups giving us a potential upside of 1-2. Lower expectations show how successful Intern Butch was in indoctrinating fans that a low-tier bowl game is a worthy goal for a program like Tennessee.
