Ok...having a human intercessor in a box to pray for them and pass out hail Mary's and punishments from supposedly God. Christ is the ONLY intercessor ever needed, not some clown in a wood box


Praying to Mary, and other "saints"...that's Idol worship...period...God said "there shall be no other gods before me"

Those are just 2 off the top of my head...there are many, many more...idol worship got Israel torched a couple dozen times in the old testament, and they are Gods chosen ones...not us gentiles. I am sure he will go easy on the Catholics though...


Oh, and apart from widespread child molestation, and covering it up...and celibacy, which God never called anyone to do in the new testament...look up "indulgences" that's where Catholic priests and the church allowed people to buy sins for donations..like sex with boys, sex with little kids, sex with animals, adultery, etc...those chapels were expensive bro...tower of Babel ring a bell? The Catholic church has done more to pervert and destroy real Christianity throughout history than any other religion or institution. It isnt close...and the church was fouunded by Peter the Magus, not the apostle Peter...scripture proves that the only years Peter could have gone to Rome was when he went there to slay Pater(father) Magus for perverting Christianity...the Bible actually tells of the meeting between Peter and the apostles and the founder of the Catholic church, the Magus...the real Peter rebuked him for tricking the people with his sideshow magic. Told him to repent and seek Christ. Look it up....

I’ll also say they have it wrong on requiring priests to be celibate.

But hey, my FIL and wife’s stepmother are Catholic so I’m a bit jaded.

Priests are given the to forgive in God's behalf. Just as Jesus was, and Jesus authorized his disciples to do so.

Jesus said to his disciples that those sins they forgive are forgiven and those that aren’t, arent. But I guess with 400+ Protestant denominations, one of them that started their own church because they didn’t believe what Pastor Will preached one Sunday, must have it all figured out, eh?

Correct, people see someone praying the Rosary and they think, "They are praying to Mary". But, they are merely praying through Mary, that is, asking Mary to pray for them.

So they are using a loophole, means the same.

All religions, sects, cults get stuff wrong. No big deal, live and let live. I’m not an organized religion guy.

Myself, I couldn’t be a Catholic, yes it’s convenient, no problem with booze, say a few Hail Mary’s and you’re forgiven for anything. I just couldn’t kiss the man’s ring.

Before every high school football game, we said a Hail Mary. At the end,

"Mary, queen of victory"

"Pray for us"

"Saint Thomas Aquinas"

"Pray for us"

"All the angels and saints"

"Pray for us"

I hear Protestants, all the time, asking for normal people to pray for them. A Catholic asks Mary, who, if anyone is in heaven, she must be, to do the same and all hell breaks loose.

It doesn't mean the same. It means that only God has the power to forgive sins. That he chooses to share that power is significant. But, men can't forgive sins without God forgiving the sins. That's the official stance of the Catholic Church.

Catholics do not pray to Mary or any other saint. We ask them to intercede for us. We also don’t handle snakes or have altar sacrifices.

I swear I smell Church of Christ members all in this thread.
