I’m ready to compromise

Why are there so many more gun deaths than sharp pencil deaths?

How many mass shootings happen at police stations?

Gun shows?

Pro Second Amendment rallies?

Areas where the Right to Bear Arms isn't infringed and denied?

I won't wait since you won't answer.

School security should be, and can be, and would be paid for by the government, wonder why they aren't doing it?

Because the second any reputable forensic accountant does their job to find the money, they would find nothing but waste and corruption and simple misallocating of funds and "disappeared" monies so many of our "politicians" would be up sh** creek. From the local to the state to the feds.

The only pertinent point is that of the government being able to pay for the necessary protection measures needed to stop these school shootings. Followed by an increase in the ability of schools and administrators to "target" those who fit the profile. Because with the money and ability to pick out potential threats this issue is pretty much solved. Period. One could argue the money alone would be sufficient enough to put a stop to these school shootings.

So, what is the real issue? The gun control narrative......or school shootings? Because if you say it is to stop these school shootings, reread this post because it will with most certainty eliminate these school shootings by doing these two things.

Because the vast majority of these shootings are done by giant ******* and wimps and cowards who couldn't and wouldn't have the balls to be so up close and personal.

Not kidding Luther. The same thing can be said for gang violence. These so called tough guys and hard arses shoot each other like it was nothing, but, what if you had to settle your "beef" by a good old fashion Indian knife fight? How many tough guys would there be willing to tie up and go at it with the knives while tied together? I can say very, very few.

I agree. Guns make killing incredibly easy and impersonable.

So, as I understand it, the children want:
1) ban automatic weapons
2) ban bump stocks
3) 21 years old to purchase
4) close gun show and internet loopholes.

My compromise is regulate automatic weapons and you can have the rest.

Non Of those actions will curb gun
violent it is impossible to legislate human behavior

New proposal: voluntary buyback sponsored by the US government.

The guns are melted down and used to help build the border wall.

It wouldn't be free and most teachers, students, and their parents are opposed to the idea.

Why do they need more security? Because there are so many unstable people with far to easy access to firearms.

Which is ironic given the FL shooter,FBI and local Leo's.

This guy gave you every sign you could want, went legal, red flags, paper trail route and succeeded.

And we re made to believe a new more detailed law is gonna workout. Oh the naive.

We are all to aware of how many times the current laws did not work. What we fail to consider and can never truly know is how many times the laws DID work.

My guess would be the greater the distance the more impersonal. It seems that law enforcement attempts to determine how personal or impersonal a killing appears to be as part of their investigation.

The entire conversation regards killing a student in a classroom. That’s pretty close and personal. Guns are used more than pencils because they’re more effecient tools.

Fwiw, former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens has just called the 2nd Amendment a "relic" and has called for it's repeal. Stevens is a Republican who was nominated to the court in 1975 by President Gerald Ford.

Yes, and that is his opinion and he's already lost that battle in DC vs Heller.

EL linked it in another thread. I read the article. From somebody with his constitutional background I was highly underwhelmed.

Your guess is as ignorant as most of your positions.

Stevens is the relic.

He's senile.

Maybe but at the very least he seems more in control of his faculties than former PA Senator Rick Santorum, who has been lecturing the kids of Parkland, Fla to learn CPR rather than advocate for gun control. Now, how to apply a tourniquet could be a useful skill when coping with a gun shot wound but what the hell good is CPR going to do?

The tide, it is a turnin'.

While I disagree with Stephens I do respect that he's attacking the issue from the correct perspective. You want change? Amend the Constitution. Stop playing the silly games.
