I read an article from CFN (College Football News) from earlier this month where they ranked where they thought all FBS teams would end up this year. They admitted the piece was one of those too esrly to be accurate (click bait) predictions but I read it anyway.

They had us finishing at #39 after facing six top 20 teams on our schedule. I think they had WVa at #16. They did say if things fell right for us it was at this point in their opinion possible we could finish in the top 20.

Just eye-balling without running numbers, I would guess that they're over-estimating Florida, USCe, and Missouri (and probably LSU and A&M), and under-estimating MSU, Kentucky, and Vandy.

One flaw in your logic...it is scientifically impossible to under-estimate vandy.

While I conceptually agree, somehow our football program has done so 4 times in the last 6 years. That seemed impossible 7 years ago when Dooley was telling us we always beat the sh!t out of Vandy.
