Fair enough. Some good points there. I just can't get back on the bandwagon until I see something tangible and I do resent that a johnny come lately SEC program is willing to break the bank to hire Jimbo in the name of fan service and the best UTAD would do is an unproven assistant.

We could lose to ETSU and some of you morans would be hailing it as a sign that Pruitt is the next Saban by replicating the 2007 loss to ULM. No way in hades we're beating WVA. We're coming off our worst season in modern history, had a bad recruiting class (at least for a program that wants to contend in the SEC), and we're bleeding players. I doubt we will even see a bowl game again this decade. Maybe we'll be in the Liberty Bowl by 2020. 2021 will be a rebuilding year and we'll have another coach by 2022. You heard it hear first.

Bandwagon? Ha. It must be invisible. I certainly haven't seen a bandwagon in years. hahaha :lolabove:

it's no where near as simple as that, and i'm not exactly sure at this point how one assigns blame. you blame fulmer for hiring an unproven assistant, or do you blame Currie/haslam for trying to hire Schiano, forcing the debacle that ensued, that ultimately led to Fulmer's/Pruitt's hiring?

at some point you just have to accept it for what it is, best possible outcome in a really bad situation.

option A was Greg Schiano. there was no option B.

until there was. and by that time, anyone else that was on anyone's option A list, was NOT taking this job.

There were a fair amount of people on this board who were not the least bit enamored with Jimbo. In addition, FSU didn't exactly turn back flips to hang on to him...and just a few years removed from a NC...that should say something.

I could be very wrong, but I get the feeling that A&M is not gonna get their money's worth out of Jimbo.

Some folks need to take a break and step back from football until the fall. There is not going to be any real tangible evidence of what this team is going to look like until the games start. This will lend to endless speculation which will naturally be negative after the poop show we experienced last year. If you trend toward negative thinking, you may want to take a break because you are only going to drive yourself mad and will not enjoy your spring and summer for fretting about how badly we are going to suck this fall. Just a suggestion though.

Go Vols!

I have no idea why VOLS fans are so intent on bashing Jones 5 months after he was our coach. If I'm fired from my job and someone like Nick fing Saban calls me I answer, and I go to work for him. Jones' is doing what is best for his family and himself professionally. Let sleeping dogs lie and move the f on.

Agree. I was one of the ones That wanted us to pursue Jimbo. I think he’s a very good coach but FSU should be easier to win at than Texas AM.

Completely agree, they're going to regret that contract

They are going to expect championships sooner rather than later. When they don't happen the fans will turn on the AD for that stupid excuse for a contract. It feels like it was more a publicity stunt than a real contract.

They already gave him this which seems like something we would've done in the previous 5 years or so:

Yeah. I remember that now that you posted it. Lol. I'm glad CJP is not a gimmicky coach. I'm tired of the rest of the CFB world laughing at us. Let them laugh at TAMU for a while.

I have zero problems with Butch being an intern/analyst for Saban. I encourage it. Maybe he can "help" them out like he did us.

CJP is not a wannabe like the previous two hires. He's brought an elite system with top coaches and instilling much needed player discipline. The sun has come up on the program.

Our role is simple. Support UT and the team. Move on from the past decade of futility and leave the baggage behind. I would lots rather see the back and forth about JG versus Chryst on here than associating future team performance with past garbage. Besides, it would drive some of you insane if McBride or Shrout won the job.

Bryce love had 6 catches last year...

And their other two leading rushers totaled 7 catches.

Really good posts and another example of fans getting lost in the stats without digging deeper. Their scheme was obviously set up for going down the field with the passing game and running Love. Which explains the lower completion percentages and a possible indication of throwing the ball away more to avoid picks and sacks. As I pointed out previously his TD/interception ratio is good. Add in the effects of the injury.

Going to be an interesting battle.

Jimbo's still one of the top coaches in the game IMO. I'd still be clapping had we hired him.
