It honestly looked like we thought we could coast through. Sitting Alexander was a mistake because he looked fine the game before. It’s march everyone is good. No coasting.

You realize we didn’t just sit Alexander right? He was hurt. Tried to go through warm ups and couldn’t even do layups. Barnes talked about it after the game

He was so hurt that he could play a full game in the first round?.... gimme a break. Barnes and the team thought we could coast by because it was Loyola. Not the case.

The injury happened in the round of 64. Multiple Tennessee writers said he looked noticeably hobbled in warm-ups.

I’m pretty sure he was quoted saying it’s march we play through these things. Bottom line the players and coaches were looking forward to Cincy IMO.

Ever turn an ankle really bad during a game but be able to keep playing, then barely be able to walk for the next week? Similar situation. You REALLY think Alexander just didn’t want to play in a huge NCAAt game?? And Barnes just left him on the bench when he could have played?

Folks - the loss was simply not having Alexander and having nobody on the bench that could step in and play at a higher level to match up against a quality opponent. You knew the officiating would go their way to keep their story going. We could point to dozens of things that could have won the game, but nobody feels it worse than our team. I counted 4 shots of Loyola that bounced on the rim several times and even hit the board and bounced in like that last shot. Just wasn't to be. But it does point out what they need to work on for next season and all but Daniel are back. Very happy with the team and how they represent UT.

Football.

This.

Anybody that's ever had a bone bruise knows. You don't get better playing with it, you can damage the leg even more.

If they add a male sport they need to add a female sport. Football doesn't kill other sports. NCAA with their scholarship limit of less scholarships that what would field a full team kills other sports.

Even though the argument makes sense, and it will never work that way, people have argued that you should take football out of the equation when it comes to counting scholarships because, essentially, at most schools, football pays for everything else.

This is total horsecrap. Barnes knows that you can't coast in any game in the NCAAT. I think that our team knew that also. To think that they went through the motions and did not give max effort is just dumb. Just because we did not play well does not mean that we did not play hard. Whenever a team gets upset, this is the same crap that everyone always says. We weren't ready to play....we had no effort....we quit. I am tired of this sort of lazy analysis. We were five point favorites, I think. It was an upset but not a shocker.

Seriously? Did you watch the first game? He got hurt in the second half. Pretty sure it was a bone bruise.

The things being said on this site after the game are mind boggling.

Spot on. The terms "no effort" and "quit" get thrown around too much. Sometimes a team just outplays you and hits shots that bounce on the rim multiple times. Sometimes your treat isn't the best on the court or field that day. Has nothing to do with quitting.

That's sad. What is sadder is this type of ridiculous post. And, we have all off-season to read more of them. That is the saddest of all.

Look man, I know its very important to you to that you tell everyone how bad they should feel for their posts and virtue signal regularly but just ****ing save it. For once.

Truth hurts. You have no idea how much KA was hurting. Pretty sure he would have played if he could.

Thats fair. I was pretty salty last night about the game. Im sure he was hurt and couldnt play. I just wish that as a whole, everyone had given more effort to get the win because it looked pretty lackadaisical out there.
