Tennessee shot 18 FT and Georgia shot 15. So calls went Tennessee's way by the numbers. If you thought more were missed for Tennessee that's your rightful opinion but it wasn't like the refs swallowed their whistle when it came to Georgia. All I am saying is given the extreme physical nature of the game the officials had to walk a fine line between letting the game have flow (not calling all the contact) and not letting the game get out of hand. Did they call a perfect game?...I doubt one has or ever will be called. I didn't see their performance as being so egregious as to warrant them being banned from games or disciplined in some way as some on here are calling for. I know this wasn’t part of your post but to respond to a couple of other issues raised; the in bounding team can run the end line after a made field goal or free throw and do not lose that ability after a time out. So the right call of no traveling on Georgia in these incidents was the correct call. As far as the calls being inconsistent it’s the nature of the game and the referee’s will call it closer if they perceive the game is getting close to getting out of hand as far as the physicality. Hey it’s my opinion and I have made an effort to support it in a reasonable way, I appreciate those with a differing opinion who have done the same.

Like TGO said, the walk occurred by the receiver of the inbounds pass because he was sprinting towards the inbounder. Almost every single time, multiple steps before he could slow his momentum. Go back and watch for yourself. There were also a couple that occurred within their halfcourt offense.

College basketball officiating is as bad as it’s ever been imo

Obviously we are all aware of he SEC officials but even watching other conferences and these 1 bid league tournaments it’s amazing how poor it is. Takes away from the enjoyment of the game and seriously affects outcomes all the time. It’s a problem.

You are trying too hard. I officiated at a young age and know how difficult even rec ball can be. Officiating at an elite level cannot be easy.

However, the level of officiating right now is just not good, and it's been happening for the last several years. I know that they have been trying to stress a freedom of movement, but the games are just not consistent. At some point, people have to realize that basketball is a contact sport. I get frustrated with officials who anticipate a play instead of letting it happen. I also get frustrated with the charge/block call as I am not sure that most are properly trained for it. My real pet peeve is the foul for a 3 point shooter when the shooter kicks out and initiates the contact. Although the action moves fast, you are trained to watch the movements.

Additionally, the missed traveling calls were not on the person inbounding the ball. There were several times that the big man catching the ball in play shuffled his feet, and one was blatant. That's a violation.

As I posted last weekend, Brian Shey has a history in TBA dating back to Bruce Pearl. Karl Hess was kicked out of the ACC for alleged racial slurs. We just aren't making things up.

I doubt the refs made him say "we still have time". (I was afraid of technical too, so Glad he did it, regardless of whose idea it was)

No, but it's a team technical when stuff like that happens. The refs did say "address it, or get T'd up".

I was sitting pretty close and saw them come over to him before he went over to the mic.

They could have assessed a technical, and I think that’s what they told him which prompted him to say something
