I dont know and I dont really care.
We are talking about basketball and a guy on a team that finished 1st in the SEC with the a 10 SOS, and a guy that played on a team that finished 10th, was 2 games over .500, and with a far inferior schedule.
So by your logic, awards should always be given to whichever player has the best stats, regardless of who they play, and how they finish? Solid.
Point is it's individual. This fanbase thinks it was horrible for the voters to hold losing to Florida against him, and that's exactly what we're doing against Maten. Maten is top 10 of almost all stats.

With 8 players on the two teams, yes. I think the AP results is a more accurate result.
Okay, then this is tough to reconcile if we are just going to go by the statistical numbers...
Admiral Schofield - 2nd team All-SEC
13.5 ppg
5.8 rpg (lead the team)
1.8 apg
1.0 spg
45% FG%
38.5% 3-pt%
74% FT%
Mustapha Heron - nothing
16.6 ppg (lead the team)
5.5 rpg
0.9 apg
1.2 spg (lead the team)
45% FG%
34% 3-pt%
82% FT%
It's not MVP, it's Player of the Year. If it was most valuable, they'd call it that.
You can say its an individual award but that doesnt make it so.
Basketball is the quintessential team sport. Look at every crap team in the NCAA and there will be one guy putting up great numbers, but it means nothing if your team isnt winning.
Shouldn't penalize a guy who brought it more consistently because his teammates were horrible. As I've said, the AP is much more accurate up and down the list.
