Interesting to say the least. As a private business they should be able to do what they want. Are you saying someone could sue for age discrimination? I've never heard of someone being sued for age discrimination for being too young.

I wouldn't mind raising the age to 21. I don't think kids are as mature as the used to be.

So is an individual an adult at 18 or 21?

I love how the language has flipped from “assault weapon/rifle” to “assault-style” weapon.

Muh big, black, scary gun!

If you listened to Dianne Feinstein yesterday. These "weapons of war" (AR15) are brand new to the market place.

I really can't believe we are on opposite sides of this. AR type rifles sure but .22 and hunting rifles 18 is fine with me.

Obviously legally, when it comes to long guns it's 18. Hand guns, it's 21. Alcohol, it's 21. To vote it's 18. To serve in the military it's 18. To drive a car it's 16.

To me it's more about maturity. I don't think kids today are as mature as they were 20-30 years ago at 18.

I'm not necessarily for it but I'm not against it. I dont think it will have any affect. Someone determined to do harm is going to find a way.

I didn't say I was for it. I said I could live with it. I had rifles/shotguns when I was 12. My parents gave them to me as birthday, Christmas gifts ECT. I wasn't allowed to touch them without my dad being present until I was older, like 16. I had a lot of adult supervision.

That also means that there will be a gap between the time an 18 year old adult leaves home and the time they turn 21 that they will not be able to defend themselves. I don't like it at all. I have a teenager that shoots with me and is very mature. I cant be with them 24/7 when they leave home.

Local YMCA's often offer basic self defense or Karate classes if this is legit concern for you.

Kids leave home at 18? Wasn't aware. :)

Mine probably thinks they are gonna live with me forever. Gonna be sad day when they realize pop tarts ain't cheap.

Daughter graduated from UT December of '16. Moved out this past September. She's frugal and she'll do ok. My son is graduating from high school this May and he will enter UT this fall. He likes the best of everything. Champagne taste on the Wal-Mart brand soda budget. It will be interesting. Momma spoils him though so he'll do fine.

Also, I love both my kids. I will shed tears majorly when he leaves the nest. He's always been my sidekick.
