#BoycottNRA

President Trump told GOP Sen. John Cornyn that he alone would ban bump stocks, and Congress shouldn't worry about them.

"I'm going to write that out. We can do that with an executive order. I'm essentially going to write it out," Trump said. "You won't have to worry about bump stock. Shortly, that will be gone. We can focus on other things. Frankly, I don't know that it would be good to have it be in this bill. We'll have that done. They're working on it quickly."

Good job Donald!!!

Man, Trump is finally doing something sensible. Glad to see him call out the NRA.

"President Trump, in a stunning exchange with two senators over whether they would introduce legislation raising the age to buy firearms from 18 to 21, told them, "You're afraid of the NRA."

Trump was speaking to GOP Sen. Pat Toomey and Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin. The two have been pushing background check legislation since 2013.

The exchange began when Trump asked the senators what they were “doing about the 18 to 21,” referring to raising the age. The senators demurred, and one said, “whatever you want.”"

I would like Freak to set up a paypal account and every time someone uses the words “sensible”, “reasonable” or “common sense” they have to donate a dollar. Give it to St. Jude’s or something. Driving me nuts.

Might as well. Obama did the same thing ignoring all of our imbagration laws with DACA that’s still mired in 9th US CCA.

Actually in hindsight I love it. Trump write the EO and let’s Repubs that disagree file a legal block. Just make sure to do it in San Fran so it winds up on 9th US CCA for review! Perfect!

He needs to be careful.

Firms See Negative Responses to Cutting Business Ties with NRA

Not really addressing the issue but they can do what they want.

Not really, no. They can't make the law stricter as a business. It'd be like a bar telling patrons they won't serve to them until they are 25 years old.

Well apparently they are doing it or trying to do it. The NRA can take them to court. If they were a gun shop like your bar analogy that might be the case.

They have to have a valid reason to deny service. And age, so far as I know and I'm sure one of the legal types will be along shortly to correct or confirm, isn't a valid reason to deny service.

We’re talking legal statutes, not muh feelings. Mick doesn’t understand that.

If a Christian family can’t refuse service to a choice, and without fear of retribution, then Wally World can’t overstep its bounds and create their own policies that are contrary to the laws.

I suppose they can, but not without retribution.

I think federal age discrimination laws kick in at 40, so would not protect younger people. However, states can have their own age discrimination laws, which are free to be stricter than the federal standard.

Dicks only removed a type of arm as far as I know.

Interesting to say the least. As a private business they should be able to do what they want. Are you saying someone could sue for age discrimination? I've never heard of someone being sued for age discrimination for being too young.

I wouldn't mind raising the age to 21. I don't think kids are as mature as the used to be.

Walmart and Dick’s Raise Minimum Age for Gun Buyers to 21 - The New York Times

Walmart, the biggest gun seller, announced late in the afternoon that it would not sell any gun to anyone under 21 years of age. It also said it would no longer sell items resembling assault-style rifles, including toys and air guns.

Early in the day, Dick’s said it was immediately ending sales of all assault-style rifles in its stores. The retailer also said that it would no longer sell high-capacity magazines and would also require any gun buyer to be at least 21, regardless of local laws.

I don't think Dick's has sold "assault" rifles since 2012. Grandstanding is all they are doing.
