Mass shooting of the week, high school in parkland, FL.

Waffle Houses serve waffles not pan cakes....and you call me ignorant.

Which is the more important life sustaining knowledge, the number of rounds fired per minute by an AR 15, or the fact that Waffle House has the best waffles? You tell me.

At this point I’m going with waffles Luth.

I’m going to bed early tonight. Tomorrow morning I have to start loading up our Ark in N TX.

How many rounds do they fire?

Have you ever shot a rifle?
Do you own a weapon?

I’d probably buy everybody on here a beer if they’d be willing to sit down and talk about it face to face. And I’m pretty sure it would be civil.

I’d buy ole Luth two beers with a scotch backer just for the beating he’s taken. Don’t and won’t ever agree with him I think but don’t hate him.

Context gets lost in online debates. And this thread is getting long on the tooth too.

It is getting long on the tooth. And I'm sure you and I and most all of the posters on here would have a blast sitting around and drinking a few.

That was established in the minds of many about 3000 posts ago. Are you always this slow?

I try to give folks the benefit of the doubt. Not to mention, there are a bunch of folks on welfare that need my tax dollars. Granted, not as many as there was a year ago, but they are still there.

Think of the children Luther.

You trying to get Loo drunk?

No help needed.

Looter’s at home waiting on Russian collusion and a total arms ban like:

Valid points. I'll forgive you for taking so long to realize I'm FOS.

I live in a rural area of my county. Mind you, I work part-time for this same SO. I know how many are out, and where they are assigned geographically. I am roughly 15 miles away from the SO, if one or both of the 2 deputies on my end are busy doing reports.

According to our CAD system, the average response time for a valid 911 call (emergency) to my area (I ran the numbers within 1 mile) varies from 3 to 9 minutes. But we'll go with 3.

So...911 call, help is 3 minutes away, best case.
One of my .45's is always within reach, so let's say 5 seconds just to be fair.
From the far end of the house, I can reach and ready either one of my other handguns, or my AR, within 20-30 seconds.

So...3 minutes, or 5 seconds to 20 seconds, depending on the threat / need.

Don't need a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Then again, science has always been my Acheles heal. That's why I stick with guns, which I understand.

Lol. You can't drop a whole part of the country to try and fudge the numbers. I guess we can drop white males and our domestic terrorism and mass shooting numbers will be better now too. Not to mention rape, pedophilia, arson, fraud, assault etc.

And I guess if you were doing that you should just say poor males. Different races in the US commit the same rate of crime when income is factored in. So yes if you drop poor people the rates would go down. But then again without all the poor people and black people who built the country we probably wouldn't be counted as a wealthy nation.

I'm actually against most gun control. But America has higher murder and suicide rates than other countries with less guns. Australia saw a drastic reduction in suicides when gun control was implemented.

The CDC and FBI stats I used did not distinguish between income, however, I believe your position that the homocide rates, once adjusted for income, are identical regardless of race to be substantially incorrect, but perhaps you have a different source than I used.

Apparently you misunderstood my points. If one is going to compare statistics, it is important that the basis of comparison be as relevant as possible.

For example, comparing Germany to the US when we know a segment of the US population has an extremely high homocide rate AND we know Germany is more homogeneous AND that US segment with a high homocide rate lags behind other races in terms of socio-economic outcomes, without some adjustment is ridiculous.

Without recognizing significant statistical aberrations in basis of comparison, one might as well be comparing Berlin, Georgia to Berlin, Germany to draw conclusions about spinach production, **** for brains.

With regards to your other points, they have nothing to do with the original post which was about comparing US homocide rates to other industrialized countries.

You would think someone who claims to have been fighting the gun control fight for 40 years would learn up on the subject. When I try to educate myself I try to learn all sides.

What I realized long ago, and what has been dramatically reaffirmed on this site, is that knowledge of the subject in no way leads to logical conclusions. It almost seems to work in reverse.

List of countries by intentional homicide rate - Wikipedia

We have a comparable murder rate to "S***hole" countries like Somalia, Kazakhstan, and Rwanda.

Much higher than Mozambiquie, India, Lybia, Sierra Leone, Cambodia and many more.

Much, much higher than any wealthy countries.

How U.S. gun deaths compare to other countries - CBS News

Americans are 10 times more likely to be killed by guns than people in other developed countries, a new study finds.

Compared to 22 other high-income nations, the United States' gun-related murder rate is 25 times higher. And, even though the United States' suicide rate is similar to other countries, the nation's gun-related suicide rate is eight times higher than other high-income countries, researchers said.

The study was published online Feb. 1 in The American Journal of Medicine.

America'''s Violent Death Rate Higher Than Other Countries | Time

Americans are much more likely to be shot dead than people who live in other high-income countries, according to a survey of global homicide rates.

Homicide rates in the U.S. were seven times higher than an average of other high-income countries, largely fueled by a gun homicide rate in the U.S. that is about 25 times higher than others.

I stand corrected sir.

The only thing working in reverse is your brain.

For a 57 year old man (?), you’d fit in better at a daycare center.

How can you even try to discuss what weapons should or should not be banned? This why you are laughed at. You use x and y questions. You have no knowledge. That will automatically make the “other” side just assume you want all guns banned. If you don’t know the difference in weapons, and you don’t even need to be a GV level expert, just have working level knowledge above weapon of war at assault weapon.

Gov. Rick Scott is running for Senate but did not show up to explain any of his positions tonight. At least Rubio did. But I can tell you just from talking to random folks, including some pretty conservative friends, this issue is going to be very significant in coming election cycles. Ignore it at your own risk.
