Mass shooting of the week, high school in parkland, FL.

I can think of nothing more sadly ignorant than you offering me parenting advice.

As much as I would love as a father, to list the accomplishments and successes of my children, I'll refrain (for now at least).

I have a son, luda (cris?). You’re more than welcome to do as you please, just as I am to use common sense and my first amendment right.

See how that works?

I think the students who were directly effected have every right to respond in this way.

And I would submit if the school doors are open legally they are required to get their asses in those classroom seats. If the school wants to organize a field trip or something like that so be it that’s a school function. If not they belong in school.

That is such a small percentage of the population impacted by being on the terrorist watch list by mistake. I know it happens... but inconveniencing those people should be a price we are willing to pay for keeping terrorists from having legal access to guns.

The NRA doesn't want ANY restriction of any sort because of this unfounded fear of a "slippery slope".

That’s not a price I’m willing to pay.

How about we put your name on the list?

Luther and his kind would never use such a tragic event to further their agenda. Cheer them on indeed. *hrumph*

When would be a better time to talk about mass shootings? I'm sure the left, including the kids who are mad as hell about it wouldn't want to be an inconvenience to the politicians who are stuffing their wallets with NRA cash.

Very bi-partisan.

Shall we talk about how much cash Bloomberg has tossed out to anti-gun politicians?

Septic talk about them any time you want. But don’t act like right after the event most dialogue is emotionally driven and that kind of dialog is a piss poor basis for policy. That is my stance anyway.

it shouldn't be a quick fix for the average citizen to have your rights reinstated after they were taken away without your knowledge?

I don't care if its about guns or not. The above is scary.

The reality is that it's not the average person who is impacted by this... A person who is supposedly on the terrorist watch "by mistake" is not there because of a case of mistaken identity. They are there because they have engaged in activity which our intelligence community deems suspicious. They are already banned from flights and need to explain some of their behavior to the proper authorities. You seem to think any ordinary Joe Smith ends up on a terror watch list. Not so.

it wasn't just the NRA that was against it. as others have brought up the ACLU also battling it.

I am 28 years old. I have already dealt with two cases of government mistaking my identity in the 5 years I have been here in Atlanta. One was state, one was fed. This Joe Smith has already been lost in those cracks, forgive me for being wary of more.

thats just dealing with the government. KPA, credit cards, and several other businesses have done so as well.

also, yes, I am not willing to trade my rights for something that won't protect me.

Didn't read that but I knew someone would post some isolated cases in response. I stand by what I said... a small percentage of people are impacted by being on the terrorist watch list by mistake and whatever inconvenience they endure as a result is worth the benefit of keeping terrorists from having legal access to guns.

lol. having legal access to this country, or legal access to what they are going to do with said gun doesn't stop them. Honestly how many terrorists are going thru FFLs to buy their guns? I am willing to bet it is the same crazy small percentage that gets wrongly accused, but on a much smaller population.

Sure, lets' talk about it. How much? How much is Bloomberg paying out to combat the gun manufacturers via legislation?

Let's not pretend that the gun laws aren't more stringent because of money.

Always follow the money, always.

If the agenda is to stop more gun violence in the schools, you are damn right the left is going to use this as yet another example that what we are doing is failing.

And since every time we "wait for some respectable amount of time to go by" and then do nothing, I guaran-damn-tee you that the parents of the 14 kids killed last week wish that after the last one people had made an issue out of it immediately and then kept the pressure up on it throughout.

So stop preaching like you don't want to act quickly out of respect for the people killed. That's a bunch of crap, and you know it.

When you say the things we are doing are failing, do you mean gun free zones?

That doesn't mean nothing should be done. There are fixes which need to be made to the "no fly" list including the criteria for being put on it and for getting off but even the ACLU will tell you that doing nothing is not the answer. Their site actually has some good ideas for fixing the system.

Can't wait until the next terrorist strikes or illegal kills someone. #getsomethingdone

yes, and I have posted some myself. and none of them involved taking away people's rights without them knowing.
