Mass shooting of the week, high school in parkland, FL.

Context.

If you knock the crap out of someone on the football field. You're appropriately intense.

If you do it while walking down the street. You're imprisoned.

Wanna bet?

Context, right?

If my family or myself are put in danger, I’d walk free from the scene.

You should stop with analogies. They’re kicking your ace!

Fair enough. Thanks for clarifying. Fangs withdrawn.

I collect vintage (70's) stereo equipment, if they did a study of people with this particular hobby I'm sure they would find some idiosyncrasies of the people involved just like they would in any particular group.

You’re probably sitting on a gold mine then if you have some old school tube amps. There seems to be a resurgence in fixation on these even though in my opinion DSP backed solid state amps replicate the harmonic content very well.

I don’t think guns should be banned but they should be more difficult to attain. If they’ll do nothing about that then put metal detectors across all schools and big traffic places. It’s better than standing around doing nothing
I am hoping you are saying more difficult for the criminals to obtain. That task is monumental, and the collateral damage to law abiding peoples and the foundation of the country to achieve that goal just might not be acceptable. People will die. Tragic. But you cannot stop it.

A lot of kids were murdered the other day with the thing you’re defending so what’s your point?
Would you be happier had he used a hammer? or knife?

Why are you so focused on the tool rather than the cause of the killing? Do you seriously believe that if a killer cannot get an AR15 that will stop him from doing this kind of thing?

Would you rather attacked by someone with a knife or a gun? You tell me which one you’ve got a better chance surviving against

That’s a reasonable argument. We’d all like our chances better with a knife. I would I’m a large man.

But I submit I’d prefer that individual not be in that position in the first place.

And I will admit I am not swayed enough by your statement to give up my two AR platform rifles. I have done nothing wrong why should I be punished? Can we keep that rifle out of the hands of the person that would kill en masse without violating my rights please?

It’s a difficult argument for me to make without sounding like a hypocrite bc I can say you don’t need your ARs but I own a 700 horsepower Camaro and I definitely don’t NEED that I just think weapons like that should be harder to attain

That’s relative. A gunshot to many areas of the human body is survivable, even one to the head.

A knife slash to any part of the body can be fatal, especially if a main artery is severed. Then comes stabbing....

Sure, a firearm is more stealthy and effective at range, but that doesn’t bolster the lethality. Each are equally lethal, but “how much” is relative.

It’s like comparing the tallest midget, it’s pointless.

I understand your argument and where you’re going, just bringing an objective approach.

Yes it is a difficult argument and thank you for the Camaro example you are exactly right. You don’t need it and I submit you could kill someone easily with that car either yourself (by accident) or by proxy (stolen and crashed) and thus it’s a menace to my safety but who the hell am I to tell you you can’t hsve it

You’ve already touched on what many of us gun nutz would like to see. Active protection of our schools. We have them at sporting events, gov buildings, etc.. but not churches and schools? Why the hell not?’

I agree but they can’t just hire any Joe Schmoe to protect people at these things. They need to do extensive background checks and pay them enough to make it worth their time. That’s where it’s going to be hard to accomplish

I don’t disagree with this either. The obvious choice to me is a serving county or municipality peace officer with expanded SRO training. Up my taxes to pay for it I’m in. Hell promise me you’ll do it a lay out a reasonably quick timeline and I’ll write a personal check right now.

My reasoning on the taxes and check is thus. I claim a 2nd amendment right to own guns. However I know that ownership bears responsibility and that can incur cost. All of my firearms except for my pistol are secure in my expensive gun safe. It’s disengenious to claim a right without acknowledging the accompanying responsibility and possible cost. But likewise that cost needs to be reasonable and proportionate so as not to be a further means of control or exclusion.

Veterans would be a good option however gotta take the PTSD possibilities into account with that. Something has got to change though there’s no way around this country is too focused on protesting over being offended by every damn thing
