Mass shooting of the week, high school in parkland, FL.

Luther which of these two weapons is more lethal and why?

I have no clue. Should I state again that I proudly know almost nothing about guns.

I'm asking you gun experts because I obviously don't know. don't deflect in order to avoid the question.

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT SHOULD BE THE MOST DEADLY WEAPON THAT CAN BE LEGALLY PURCHASED AND WHAT SHOULD BE THE LEAST DEADLY WEAPON THAT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL TO PURCHASE....AND WHY?

You guys are the experts, obviously I'm not.

Without calling you names or making fun of you I’ll just say this is a gun debate so let’s debate guns.

I can buy a grenade launcher for my Colt LE6920 but we aren’t really talking about that.

If those two weapons one has an internal magazine of 5 rounds but is capable of accurate lethality at many hundreds of yards. The other is much less capable but has a high utilitarian use and has more rounds in a detachable magazine

Both are capable of lethality at range with ROF over 10 rounds a minute (read that as 10 deaths a minute)

And you answer your question about what weapon is the most dangerous and not banned?

Easy. An atomic warhead.

I'm obviously guilty of not making my question clear.

Surely you do not believe everything less deadly than an atomic warhead should be legal to purchase.

What I'm looking for is between which two guns (or type of guns) do you believe the line of legality should be drawn and why?

I'm only looking for where you would draw the line and why. I've gladly stated multiple times where I would draw some lines.

Yes. You pointed to deer rifles and shot guns which you generalized as “hunting weapons”. On the comparison I made above I am pointing out that the hunting weapon you think is fine is basically as lethal as the weapon you are attacking. This response is what exasperates most of us enthusiasts. Why cherry pick if they are both lethal.

Thus given that updated information do you change your mind? If so why and if not why not?

What do you think you gain in the question? You will just act shocked when you get an answer that you don't agree with and the cycle will continue.

I really don’t care what a person owns as far as guns go (to a point) but the background checks on people need to be made more in depth. I know that’s not something the big gun activist want but it might prevent someone like this kid this week from obtaining a weapon “legally”

Ban assault weapons.

Make it a felony to possess an assault weapon.

Reimburse those who turn in their assault weapon(s) the full value.

A good first step.

Practically already done. To legally own an assault weapon in this country, one has to 1) find one for sale, 2) have around $20k or more depending on the weapon, and 3) undergo through background check and buy a special license for the weapon.

Or just go to Mexico and buy one there illegally.

What are we going to do about all the child murder and why does our country suffer mass shootings more than other developed countries?

Genuine question. I am a gun owner but am beyond sick of incidents like this. Not willing to give up my hunting rifles, shotguns or home protection, but I really don't see a ****ing point in making semi-automatic tactical rifles available to the public.

Do people hunt with AR-15's?

You seem to have gotten a lot of bull**** responses to this question. You CAN hunt with an AR15, but most people don't hunt with an AR15.

I own one that I use to kill coyotes (rarely) but I don't necessarily feel like I should have the RIGHT to own one. They're stupid. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they were outlawed.

Just curious as to what this is and why didn't you specifically name it?

No. I'm not hearing about mass shootings with deer rifles. I actually think deer rifles are probably used for deer hunting which I'm 100% fine with.

Why do you keep asking me questions while refusing to answer mine?

The most shocking thing is how reluctant all of you seem to be to answer the question.

And it seems so reasonable.....stupefying that we allow this to continue.

To be fair the AR 15 has been glorified by the media to be this all powerful weapon of murder and destruction. Guns in general have been romantized by Hollywood, music, games etc. It looks easy to use and bad ass so I'm gonna get one and sometimes a crazy person gets one.

We need to do a better job at education, parenting and instilling the moral values we pretend to want to follow. The country has gotten too calloused and devalues life. Until that changes in our culture, it's a lost cause. imo. We have really **** the bed when it comes to being an advanced society.

Maybe weapons should be reclassified and certain ones can have a more intense background check required but expand the ones that do. I don't mind a more intense background check for all them because I'd be fine.

Because I see no reason to debate anything other than guns in a gun debate. That’s all. If a deer rifle is ok then that’s tough. Because an AR10 is in 7.62 and meets that. Honestly I think it sounds more about look and form instead of lethality for you. That’s fine it’s your opinion. My opinion is about lethality so we basically aren’t going to agree. Cheers.

The refusal of the NRA crowd to engage in reasonable debate makes the bolded seem true.
