Mass shooting of the week, high school in parkland, FL.

Come on GV, spare me the condescension. I don't need to know the history of gun legislation to know that having twice the per capita gun ownership of any other country is a problem. To know that the amount of gun violence in our country is unconscionable. To know that the fact an 18 year old with known mental and behavioral issues can buy an "assault" weapon but not a beer is a problem.

I have lived long enough to know that a head full of facts in no way leads to rational thinking and understanding. If factual knowledge led to correct conclusions, there would be no disagreement between the factual knowledgeable.

Really? It's the per capita gun ownership that caused it?

Not the mentally ill teenager who was probably on prescription meds?

No liability on the drug companies? No liability on the doctor that prescribed the meds? No liability on the parents?

Let's legislate everything instead of taking responsibility for our kids. Great idea

I’ve counted 14 times today that Obx, Mick, and pals have mentioned the NRA. I figured $10 per mention is fair, so I just made my $140 donation.

The NRA thanks you

Why don't you write that check for the victim's families. You are down right deplorable. How does it feel to prove Hillary right?

Its been a long time since I was in school. I've no idea whats going on. Most of you don't either.

I don't think its got anything to do with gun laws. Or that we're raising a bunch of sissies.

Only thing I can think of, is maybe we are seriously misdiagnosing psychopathy, and calling it autism, or, whatever.

All this hateful bickering over it is doing nothing to fix it.

You are right. I don't know anyone that wants an assault weapon. I really do enjoy shooting my AR15 though.

Of course putting a semi automatic rifle on the same plane with sarin gas is the same as saying the Vols should schedule the Patriots every year.

You really are looney tunes sometimes.

It's only an attempt to show that a line (as arbitrary as it may be) must be drawn. That's at least a starting point. I asked earlier, what should be the most dangerous weapon that an 18 year old be able to legally purchase? (Take making weapons out of legal everyday components out of the equation - for Grand Vol)

A lot of people are killed each year when that wasn't the intent. Intent is not required.

Many people are killed by cars with no intent to injure or kill either. I would imagine we should outlaw cars, knives, and other obvioulsy evil and sentient self willed items.

What is the right age to be able to vote or join the armed forces?

Totally agree, but folks way over my pay grade are going to have to sit down and put something together that we can get behind. Everything has become so polarized it's hard to bring us together as a majority. That said something has to give. I believe this was the 15th shooting on school grounds this year. Say what you want but that doesn't happen elsewhere.

When y’all draw lines, like the one in Syria, problems are not resolved, they are compounded.

Recognizing personal accountability does nothing to stop this.

These people are committing wilful acts, and are usually proud of it.

The media is complicit in the crimes by the non-stop coverage - they should stop saying the names of the shooters and pixelate their faces instead of the weeks of 24 hour coverage.

Three times as much per capita.

Just want you to be correct.

I said nothing about no liability for drug companies or parents (both of his were dead, plus his step mother, and he was taken in by people trying to do the right thing).

It is beyond pathetically absurd that just because there are admittedly numerous possible contributing factors, gun nuts feel that in some way that means the gun side of the problem shouldn't be addressed.

Addressed how? Ban all guns?

Not going to happen.

At this point, its going to be very difficult to have any sort of reasonable discourse on what the hell is going on.

I used to think gun control would help. I believe I was mistaken.

Feels like we may be in the middle of a divergent psychological mutation.
Almost like we've beaten back on so many diseases that random chance has given us a curveball.

The cats out of the bag on that.

We got internet and **** now.

And we should be very careful about limiting media.

World's dumbest argument.

Actually I would submit your blaming of an inanimate object with no will, intent, or self awareness is the absolute most moronic idiotic statement that can be made in situations like this. Just like I always do when events like this happen and that stupid argument is brought out.

You will never disarm criminals or people with ill intent. That horse left the barn a long time ago. Closing that door now is a waste of time.

Let’s enforce the gun laws we have on the books before we throw them out and rewrite them.
