Mass shooting of the week, high school in parkland, FL.

You do know that pistols have been the weapon of choice in the vast majority of mass shootings don't you?

They need to make guns harder to purchase. The gun laws in that regard are a joke and that’s simply bc if they got stricter the people behind the guns wouldn’t make as much money. It’s all about $$$

There is a duality with firearms. They are designed to kill.

But they are also designed to protect.

In the wrong hands, it's used to murder.

In the right hands it's used to save a life.

Funny how that works.

I agree in the right hands. However they need to make it harder to get weapons so that guns are in the hands of the right people more often than not. At the end of the day though this subject is pointless nothing will change

There is no correlation between ease of purchase and mass shootings. None.

One thing I'm curious about that hasn't been addressed. Where'd he get the money to buy the thing? Most 19 year old kids I know couldn't get out of sight if it took a nickle to go around the world.
He worked at a Dollar Tree and had (presumably) free room and board from a family friend. That gun is only about $600 plus whatever ammo he had. Now being reported that he took an Uber ride to get to the school. How in the hell did the driver not notice a kid with a backpack and gun case heading to a HS in the middle of the day?

So, you want to make it harder for the law abiding citizen?

You’re reaching pretty hard here.

You think he is wrong? Our fellow humans killed nearly 121 million people during both World Wars just for the sake of "national pride", territory, and resources. Humanity has and always will be a bloody creature.

You can break down an AR easily to fit into a normal school sized backpack. Reassembly takes seconds.

How about make it harder to prescribe anti-depressants. That would solve more problems than making guns harder to purchase. Hell it used to be much easier to buy guns and hardly anyone was on anti-depressants. We didn't have these incidents either, correlation?

Nope, but sooner or later that approach will prove a loser for you.

Yep. When this flies over the Capitol.

You’re one of my favorite posters here but I think our views on this subject are a bit different!
They are, but the fact is that I learned gun safety from my dad when I was only 5 years old. I have always owned firearms, and had plenty of access to them when I was in high school. However, neither I or anyone else had the slightest inclination to shoot up the school. What changed?

You see nothing wrong with the fact literally anybody can go get any type of gun they want?

I've already agreed in principle the mentally ill do not need access.

How we go about that is the tricky part.

Question though, have you ever purchased a firearm before?

No when the vast majority are law abiding citizens. My last weapon purchase was an AK about 18 months ago or so now. Why, as a law abiding citizen, should I not have the right to purchase said weapon if I have the means to do so?

And then common sense appeared.

Very practical. I would suggest that schools with armed and trained teachers would have an effect on reducing school shootings. The wolves will find another undefended venue.

Where are you going to find enough conservative teachers willingly to sign up to shoot a student or former student? The liberals damn sure won't and I doubt many cons will either.

I'm very aware. Broken down plenty of them. With that being said, I doubt this imbecile brought it to school disassembled.

Wasn't sure, so my mistake.

We are dealing with a bunch of folks in here that have zero information on the technical side of the subject.

Maybe if anyone COULD legally go get any type of gun they wanted I would. I do have a problem with the fact you CAN go get almost any type of gun illegally.

Haha gotcha. No worries man. Also, some people are saying he had a tac vest. Now of course that can mean a million different things to our media. But even a smallish plate carrier would be tough to fit in a backpack with gun and loaded mags.

I am not going to kill you with mine......unless you are harming my family and shooting you in the shoulder does not stop you......
If someone is harming my family, I am not aiming for the shoulder. I'll go even further. If you are in my house uninvited in the middle of the night, you aren't even getting a warning.
