This is fine. He was a good coach. But, I don't think he was the recruiter everyone made him out to be. At least from looking at the running back recruits. We have not been great in this area in a while. Change was probably needed.
I'm not going to worry until the season starts and we start losing games.
There is no denying that Gillespie was an elite recruiter and coach. This is a big loss.
Losing him is pretty disheartening TBH and makes me wonder what arguments went on internally for him to be let go. Also, I wonder what the team thinks about this.
Per sources, Gillespie did not mesh with Pruitt and the Vols new staff. In part of his culture change identified as necessary to push Tennessee forward, Pruitt found what sources said were stale mindsets.
RB coach Robert Gillespie out at Tennessee; is Chris Weinke about to be hired?
I'm sorry, but I am getting less and less excited about this staff every day.
Call me a negavol or whatever you want, but I haven't seen a whole hell of a lot that makes me feel good.

Hurd(was CRG on staff then?), Kamara, Kelly, Chandler aren't chopped liver. Kelly was the weakest and replaced a 4* before NSD. Pretty good swap looking back. But, to be fair, he's recruiting more than just RBs as an assistant.
I wonder if losing out on that RB this cycle had anything to do with this?
