They’d be where they are now.

Only a fool would think that you could dramatically change history and think things would be the same.

Exposure to the west without colonization and slave trade ensures a better result.

Does it though? That continent has some of the oldest civilizations on the planet and the majority of them are still killing each other with spears and living in mud huts. You're right, you cant change history and act like everything would be identical...but lets not act like Africa will ever be some bastion of scientific or civilizational advancement.

Who was saying that? Let's not make my reasonable position into something unreasonable. That's a waste of time.

Lol :eek:lol::eek:lol:

Guess this poster forgot about Egypt in Northern Africa..

People tend to forget (or not know) that sub saharan Africa barely had any written languages before colonialism.

Hell even the name Africa comes from Latin...

But yes..a fictional meteor with a fictional metal alloy would definitely changed the course of history for the continent..

Give me a f****** break. This movie checks enough diversity boxes for a while.

It’s obvious they are building up Black Panther to be new face of Marvel, replacing Iton Man, as the original cast’s contracts are expiring.

They do it because of sneak previews and critics pre-viewing. Typically it doesn't matter, because it doesn't usually get abused. I found an article where some indie movies were getting hammered by fake votes. Who knows why people would pick on indies?

I actually just listen to the folks on this thread for recommendations mostly. I know you all by now, and your likes and dislikes give a pretty good idea if I want to see something, or how much I will enjoy it if I do. I never go by any of the movie sites ratings anymore.

Better yes, exponentially better...umm no. Not unless one of the bigger tribes/countries was able to conquer and unify most of Africa. Creative destruction and therefore industrialization/modernization could have possibly insued instead of what did happen, which just amounted to the rape of a continent...but that is a looooooooooong shot at that point.

You realize you’re doing identity politics as well, right?

Anybody who obsesses over identity politics is probably part of the problem. It will only be the downfall of western civilization if it distracts us from the real issues.

Forget about the $4T budget, fringe people on the left/right are saying stupid ****!

And has it not been a giant distraction from those real issues to this point? Main stream media gives probably 10 minutes of coverage to gender/race/sexual identity per minute of congressional budget coverage.

Universities have shifted focus from teaching real life sciences and humanities to teaching fairy tale bullsh!t about critical race theory and gender identity nonsense. This identity politics game has already been a giant distraction so far and I think it is just the beginning.

That's exactly half of my point. You're either tuning in to see what CNN says about it or what Ben Shapiro says about it. Ben Shapiro has a big audience because he's talking about the stupidity of Moana + cultural appropriation. If he were talking about the debt, nobody would care.

Again, people who will never step foot in a college classroom again are hyperfocused on what they disagree with about the direction of higher education. The debt and big government should be making conservatives spitting mad, but that only slightly moves the needle...they get mad about identity politics.

It's not just the media. It's not just college campuses. It's everybody. The media is just telling the stories that get them clicks. Stop allowing them to distract us from the real issues.
