I guess the defense could not save Brady this time. Had they lost to Seattle and Atlanta as they should have, he would be 3-5. In his earlier wins, the defense was full of Hall of Famers. Belicheck is the reason for his success. Had he been a 6th round pick of say Minnesota, you would have never heard of him and he would have been out of the league in a couple of years. He does not walk in the same shoes as Unitas, Marino, Manning, Favre, Montana etc.

Brady did not need to be saved. He had a fantastic, MVP worthy night. He just needed his defense to show up once. The Patriots defense lost that game last night.

Exactly. Brady threw for 505 yards and 3 tds. He did everything possible to save the Pats piss poor secondary.

The pats like to stay comfortably below the salary cap as evidenced by the personnel turnover.

Most of NE's offensive snaps with Barnett in the game, I watched him specifically. Most downs NE sent extra help for the tackle blocking Barnett on passing downs. Usually a back would chip him just as he would clear the tackle, then the back would release into the flats as a safety valve. Early on they even sent Gronk around to block him from the opposite side. I believe NE schemed specifically to keep him from getting to Brady, thus the show of respect from Brady after the game.

Had the Giants not made two ridiculous catches late in each of their games, he would be 7-1. See it works both ways.
