'18 GA LB Quay Walker (UGA signee)

Keep in mind that vol fans likely did not start paying close attention to Walker's recruitment until Pruitt was hired. Bama and Georgia fans who follow recruitment closely know that Georgia was starting to make headway with Walker prior to Pruitt accepting the Tennessee job.

UGA fans thought that but UA fans saw Walker all over the place and once Pruitt left UF was more of a threat then UGA. A lot of UA fans have never seen UGA as a threat. Walker has always seemed like a kid that wanted to get out of the state of GA. Truth be told Walker started considering UA once Pruitt came to UA and Kirby went to UGA. I doubt Kirby pulls him.

Booommm!!!

My projected 2-deep for the entire D has an average composite score of .92...the starters alone are .935...if these coaches are as good as advertised then we should see an immediate impact on D...the talent is there, especially with the key additions we are making with this class

Just my opinion going to 3-4 Will hurt this year. They will make huge plays but will have big bust as well while learning the scheme. Year 2 will be huge improvement

Missed something here what was predicted that happened? Just curious because it has been believed that Walker was not going to be in the UA class long before Pruitt left UA. Moody no one our side had mentioned his name until last week. Did he cancel his visit to UGA this weekend or are your insiders hearing he decommitted last night.

Just that y'all had moved on but were giving it one last shot....that coming from uga insiders....they still feel confident in getting walker...i really not sure who he signs with but it feels like ut by small margin right now to me....his visit will be pivotal and Kirby is every bit a beast I said he would be we could very easily lose him to uga on this visit. Even if he shuts it down till signing day. Pruitt and playing time are giving us the edge right now.

UGA is not a factor. They were before Pruitt came to UA but when Kirby was still at UA his interest was in UGA and Pruitt. He has also stated that depth charts and early playing time are a factor. UT he will play early. UGA is a free visit and in the end UT will be his school because of Pruitt and early playing time.

Hope your right just passing on uga feels good still where their at

Also do not get to worried about anything coming from UGA sites after his visit. They put out that he wanted to sign early with them but they could not get the paperwork pushed through in time which I do not believe is the case. UGA, UA, or anyone for that matter could not have gotten Walker signed in December and had no control on the situation either.

Per Walker “They tried to send the papers to me but I didn’t do the NCAA Clearing house,”

No school has anything to do with the clearing house. Walker and his HS have to submit the required paperwork to the NCAA Clearing House before he can sign any scholarship paperwork and play in college. He had not done that. But yet the UGA sites said the only reason he did not sign early was on their end.

How many spots does UGA have left?

From SEC Country:

4-star linebacker Quay Walker‘s commitment to Alabama remains shaky at best. I just don’t see him sticking with the Crimson Tide at this point. Saban was in Cordele, Ga., on Tuesday night. Head coaches only get one in-home visit so that will be the last face-to-face contact with Walker. Georgia assistant coaches also visited Walker on Tuesday. Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt are expected to stop by this week, too. Walker will visit Georgia this weekend. I think Walker’s recruitment comes down to Georgia and Tennessee.

Georgia signed 3-4 LBs last year and are on pace to sign those same numbers this year. I just don't see him picking Georgia especially with the knowledge that he'd get a lot of playing time early here.

No insider here, just reading the tea leaves.

Think Quay is a silent commit to Tenn and has been since his OV. Per AV’s post a few weeks ago.

Pruitt is still concerned about him flipping to UGA, which is why he moved the in home visit to Thursday night.

Thinking his relationship with Pruitt and opportunity to play early will win him over.

I think Pruitt is going to try to get him to cancel his OV to UGA this weekend and shut it down, or maybe unofficially visit TN again.

I’m thinking the same and maybe someone like OG or Beal are already silents. Enough hints of silents to make me think we have 2-3 already.

Keep this in mind. With the hiring of Pruitt, Tennessee will start getting their fair share of top players in the southeast and around the country similar to what happen under HC Fulmer. Don't know what schools will feel it the most, but it will be impactful.

Clemson and S. Carolina both. They have made a living off the guys from North and South Carolina that we used to get in the 90's.

Really? I'd feel like crap if I was UGA. Especially after blowing championship game the way they did.

Id feel bad if I was associated with Uga in anybway shape or form. Had a friend for a super long time. I always remind her of our ownership of UGA, and its fraternities.

man, its gold.

I think you were the one who said if moody was offered after nick’s visit then means Quay is a no go to Bama. Think that is what is being referenced. Maybe not a prediction per se but good info and looks to have been an accurate statement.
Maybe Saban did get bad news or vibes from Quay, but another Bama coach visited Bama's other LB commit 3* Vernon Jackson in Texas yesterday. Signs have been pointing to Jackson flipping to stay closer to home. If Walker told Saban Bama is out, it seems to me he'd publicly decommit today. Maybe he will.

Nah Pruitt wants the flip on NSD. Optics are better that way for TN.

IMO

I guess but everyone that follows recruiting knows he is not going to be a part of the class at UA. I guess the early signing period will take away these big surprises of flips in the future. Any recruit not wanting to sign in December it shows the staff(unless academics are a concern) that they need to look for a replacement. At least with us that has been the case. When Walker and Jackson did not sign our staff wasted no time looking for other options for those spots.

Not everyone follows recruiting, though. Average fan reads headling "Vols flip 5 star linebacker from Alabama on NSD" and gets pretty excited.

and our situation was totally different. i'm interested to see how it changes for us come next december as well.

i'm sure everyone learned a lot this go around, and it'll be even a little more different next year.

i think at this point, most are going to be perfectly fine with getting 75-80% of their classes signed on the ESD. and likely to be the goal.
