Abortion Rights

God is better than that. You can believe what you want to believe, but the God I believe in only cares how we treat one another.

How does abortion treat a baby? By the way you better read the Bible. You have made an idol of your imaginary view of God. The God of the Bible will judge you harshly.

So if it's life, why is it OK to abort to potentially save the Mother's life? Or in cases of rape? If my wife and my child are falling off a cliff and I can only snag one, I save my child. Why is it different in the womb?

I’ve never proclaimed abortion was right under any circumstances. There are other options, including c-section and subsequent adoption in the case of rape (which is the option I would use if my wife were raped).

Herein lies the problem, you’re conflating a woman’s desires with how a “life” is defined. If she wants to abort, it isn’t a life. If she wants to keep the baby and an intentional action takes its “life,” then it’s murder. Not how this works.

As I’ve said before, a woman’s choice (and your choice or anyone else’s) begins and ends when she partakes in sexual activity. It’s like you kooks don’t understand how babies are made.

At what point is the pregnancy a life? You just stated a beating heart which certainly sounds reasonable.

At the moment of conception it is just a bunch of cells. At 9 months it is obviously a baby. The extremes muddy the debate. Life beginning at conception and life beginning at birth are both wrong IMO.

The answer is in between, and that is where it get tough to say "when" it is a human life.

Wrong, it's life at conception.

What's good for the gander is good for the goose. A mans choice begins and ends with sex also. If she so desires he is a wage slave for the next 18 years, completely on her whim. Yet we have "my body, my choice". She spends 9 months pregnant, and not all nine of those months are even inconvenient, but he'll spend 18 years in wage servitude to her and the offspring she had 100% of the say in if it is born or not or put up for adoption or not or just abandoned at some fireball.

I'm predominantly against abortion, but if we are going to keep it legal like it is there needs to be the ability of unwilling fathers to sign away paternal responsibility prior to birth.

Maybe you should study it a little more careful. One of the ten commandments, thou shalt not kill!

Even among Christians, they cannot decide if it's killing or not. If it's killing, then under no circumstances would it be OK, but many, many Christians believe that it's OK under certain circumstances.

Maybe religious people but not Christian people.

Did you seriously link Wikipedia. Did you edit it before you posted the link?

Wiki is actually very accurate and this doesn't even make sense. I'm not using wikipedia as a source of facts here, I'm using it to show the debate (on both sides) that exists.

The biggest hypocrisy of all is if you truly believe it's murder, then you must support planned parenthood handing out birth control, right? That could potentially prevent millions of "murders". What a worthy cause, right?

Do you really need me to talk and explain to you where babies come from?

If it's going to involve Bible verses, I'll pass.

If you want to talk about the biological process of the egg fertilization and natural death rates of the zygote and blastocyst, I'm all ears.

How dense are you? If they thought like that then every time a woman ovulated that wasn't fertilized would be murder, and everytime a man found solo relief it would be mass genocide. They are stating there is no difference between a fetus and a born baby, you are conflating that with no difference between unfertilized gametes and a baby.

BTW, why doesn't the Bible talk about abortion? Seems like God could have clarified a lot.

Because some warning labels really shouldn't be necessary.

When conception happens, a new life starts. It's that simple. You may or may not like that, but it is a fact!

Hopefully all the drugs you've taken has made you sterile so you can't reproduce.

Nope! My soldiers are marching strong so I can create an army of godless heathens that can roam the earth, steal your women, and vote enough to preserve the right for those women to abort their babies should my seeds choose not to wear a raincoat.

You are all emotionally bound paper napkins and it makes me sick. For the betterment of our future, you should all get vasectomies and leave the reproduction to men who can actually think for themselves.

Piss on you.

I would say that is when the genetic material needed for a new life is created. I wouldn't call a blastocyst "alive".
