I do not have any kids. Heck, I'm not even married. However, I do believe that football starting at an older age than where it does currently is beneficial for the kids in both the short and long term. I also believe that this should be more a parental/football association guidance/rule thing than legislation from the government. Football is very fun to play and watch, but at what cost to kids at 4 years old?

Winner winner chicken dinner.

agree. my daughter cheers for some pee wee football leagues in the area, and they have 4 year olds out there in full pads.

the pads weigh more than the freakin' kid. and they have no idea what they're doing or how to carry the extra weight.

parents' decision....agree. but some of those parents, you should hear these people at these games.....
you'd think there were college scouts at the game or something. the whole thing is ridiculous if you ask me.

but, not my kid. so.............

Most of the issues stem from the fact that either parents weren't good enough at the sport and want to live vicariously through their kid or they are seeing dollar signs. Either way, the kids are the ones that are harmed.

Ding ding ding, winner!! Mostly on the first analysis however. I lend a hand coaching youth baseball and football. I gett asked to coach both every year and refuse to bc of the parents.

Oh I agree.

Do you even KingTut grill out in Vestal? If you don’t know where Vestal is... well... you probably best just stay out at Turkey Creek or something

Everyone should drink out of a flower vase at least once.

(Its a great place to take unsuspecting people and watch them slowly come around to how great it is)

I use to date a girl in Atlanta that was a good critic. She would take me in places where I thought I’d get hepatitis just walking in. Then it would be the most glorious food ever. I sure miss her.

Santorini is downtown Nashville on 5th near Union. As of Taziki’s, there’s one here in Mt. Juliet, but they have others in the Nashville area I’m pretty sure.

I was the sales manager for the Nashville Market of Tazikis the past few years. Food is great and super fresh. A little bit of a different take on gyros without the beef/lamb mixture from the spit. There’s 8 locations throughout Nashville and will be a lot more coming throughout Middle Tennessee.

Et tu Glitch? 😢 This saddens me that you are for the feminization of American boys. I 1000% disagree with this bs. My 10 year old nephews play for the Carter team, something like this would destroy them.

Hell when I was a boy in the off-season we would play tackle with no gear out on the field...you wanna ban that too glitch...come on this is horsecrap.

Bring on the sissy soccer hordes.

Football is much more safe when these idiots they let coach the kids learn how to teach them to properly tackle with their heads up and that every play is not a top 10 ESPN moment but should be just to take the guy down properly for no gain. Stupid bull in the ring drills and drills where you line 8 guys 5 yards apart and you make the same guy carry the ball one on one and the other one tackles them and you have to run straight at them is stupid. After three hard hits the kid with the ball is going much slower and just getting blew up. Play the game the right way, and 10 years old is a good start. Nothing wrong with waiting for you kid to wait till 12 and in middle school but you don't need a law for it. I am not letting mine play till this year and he is 12 and if he decides not to play that is ok BUT this is the first time he has shown an interest in football. Playing at 5 and 6 is just stupid and the kids just run into each other and don't learn or do much. That is a waste of time IMO. However, we do not need the government telling what we as parents with OUR own children what we should do outside of course common sense things are actual things that do break the law. So before some idiot poster comes in here, we are not talking about it being ok to do what those idiots in Cali did chaining up their kids ect so don't even go there. This is about what sports our kids want to play.

I don't think the government should have anything to do with it. If parents want to keep their kids from something that is the parents call. I do think that there are dangers to kids that are pushed too heavily in sports to young. I know people that started private sports lesson for their son at 3 yrs old. I think parents should educate themselves on the pros and cons and then decide for their kids. If the child is injured, they shouldn't get to sue or complain. However, I do think IL is correct that repeated trauma from a sport like football to very young kids can cause serious growth and development issues.

I do not disagree with this but we don't have to legislate it with laws from an elected official.

Seem more than my fair share of stupid parents. One told me their 7 year old had to get on a travel baseball team or it could affect their major league career. I mean, is that even a rational person?

Exactly. You can forgive him as a person like all of us need forgiveness; but not as a coach of college football players. You can add to the list all of the lies he told players, his unwillingness to own up to his mistakes, the undue public humiliation of players (one that I personally witnessed in a camp practice two seasons ago), playing favorites, etc.

Butch should no longer coach IMO. The good news for him is that he no longer has to due to the former UT AD's inability to hire appropriate coaching talent and negotiate contracts.

Word gets around . I am sure former staff members and players have let these things be known.

Lol. I used to work with a guy who wouldn't eat at a restaurant unless there were enough cars in the parking lot.

Dude, those are the best Greek places.

Good one here in Murfreesboro is run by a guy from Egypt. Super nice guy.

Which one? I usually go to the one at 96 & Broad because it’s closest. I’ve been to the one close to Sams and the one on Rutherford. All were pretty good.

I much prefer those types compared to the “fancier” ones like Acropolis in Chattanooga.

Opah Greek Grill. Corner of Thompson and Old Fort. Kinda off the Wal-Mart parking lot more than the street though. I haven't tried the others for comparison.

Greek Cafe at the corner of Cason Ln and Old Fort, by the Kroger was my favorite in Murfreesboro. Can’t go wrong with any of them though they are all so similar.

I think you should be playing flag football until you’re somewhere in the 10-12 range. Then you go pads.

I don’t see the sense on letting little kids bounce off each other in pads like little midget sumo wrestlers.
