Holly has been right on par with pats last 4 years. The fact is women’s B.B. is so much harder to win now than it was 10 years ago. Partly because of UConn but just because they are so many other competent programs now. We should still be top 10 and elite 8 basically every year but it’s just harder now than it ever was.

UConn isn’t having any problem dominating the sport. UConn is where they are because of Pat and the LV program.

On kids, remember that some aren’t able to have kids or at the least have trouble with it. Either way, they are A blessing, not THE blessing. Such a blessing that far outweighs the difficulties and sacrifices of parenting.

Yep. :)

I am a proud parent of a doberman and a german shepherd. I also get to do whatever I want, travel drive a nice car and not worry about the one miliion stresses that come with kids. There are enough people in the world but hey more power to everyone that feels they must make a carbon copy of themselves to feel complete.

I delayed kids as much as possible. Always felt like I wanted them. Didn't have our first until I was 33. Wife said if we're going to have them, I'm not getting any younger. My biggest regret is not having them earlier. The joy and satisfaction of having kids is something you can't describe unless you experience it. My daughter just graduated a year ago from UT with a double major in Business analytics and marketing in 3 1/2 years, Suma cum lade. Could not be more proud. My son will graduate with a gpa well in access of 4.0 and has already been accepted into UT and the college of engineering. He is also my best friend. He hangs with his friends but always makes time for his dad. I wish I was younger so I could do more stuff with him.

I respect your decision not to procreate but I can tell you you're missing out on something you can't even begin to understand. I may never do anything worth noting in my life but I can always point to my kids as my greatest accomplishment.

Turn 30 this year and have no kids. I've also traveled to Europe and South America and plan on travelling more. Do I want kids? Yes, eventually. Right now? No.

Married 15 years.

4 biological kids
1 adopted kid

First child at 24, 2.5 years into marriage.

Love being a dad. Not great at it, but constantly trying to be better. Excited at the prospect of being a grandad at an age when I could still be able to enjoy grandchildren and do things with/for them.

Giving credit where credit is due, I do think he left the roster better than he found it in just about every area except OL. In regards to pure talent anyway, because S&C was a failure under Jones as well.

I'd agree with that. I wouldn't consider this a good roster though by SEC standards. We're middle of the road at best IMO. A lot of people spout off a few good players and mistake that for being a good roster.

I want to discuss but not the ff forum. I'm happy for you though.

That was sort of my way of thinking. Get some exploring and fun out of the way. I regret that today. There are things that I wish I could do with my some but father time prevents it. It's a personal decision though. I just thought I'd share my regrets. :hi:

IQ obviously isn’t everything. It’s kind of impossible (and I would not want to go down that rabbit hole here) to lay out an entire argument in just a snidey little forum post. No harm intended. A lot of science has been down since 81’ though.

If it’s a topic of interest to you, i’d Highly recommend the documentary Demographic Winter: The Decline of the Human Family.

...and that’s the last i’ll say on the topic. As i’m actually in the group that would prefer men’s and women’s basketball talk be taken to the appropriate forums..back to football please!

I'm an Anthropology professor. I study this stuff for a living, and I could talk about it non-stop.

I didn't mean to come off as snide. My apologies. I'll check out that documentary. I'm always looking for suggestions like this for extra credit options for my students.

i was 33 when we had our first. there's no reason to rush. dont' want to wait too long though...you start doing some funny math....like, 'how old was i, when my dad was the same age i am right now?'

then you start to realize just how old you really are.....lol

for example...my oldest is 10. i'm 44. when my dad was 44, i was 20 and out of the house.

:blink::eek:lol:

4-5 times a week with a gorgeous wife. You?

BTW just to clear the air and hopefully stop the tangent, I am all for you if you decide to have kids. Love them and raise them to the best of your ability. It's just never been for me. I have reasons but they are mine and I will not get into them. Carry on and GBO!

The “carbon copy” jab got lost in the translation. :)

Hard to judge the roster IMO because there have been so many players out of position, underdeveloped, and poorly coached. We have a number of guys that have shown flashes and appear to have SEC athleticism. Bituli, Warrior, Byrd, Kirkland, Phillips, Tuttle, Kongbo (yes, even Kongbo), Richmond, Calloway, Chandler, Johnson, and Jennings are all just waiting to be properly developed and put in position to succeed. Neither the roster Dooley inherited nor the one Jones inherited (outside of OL) had that kind of talent. And on paper, UF and UGA are the only teams in the east that should be able to match or exceed it.

SIAP.

Here's the Pro Football Focus ranking of all 28 defenders last year. Unfortunately, number 1 and 3 are both leaving. On the plus side, we have some nice building blocks returning.

What I found interesting is most grades matched the 'eye test'. I was a little surprised Kahlil was that high. He seemed lazy sometimes (but he plays in the middle so it's hard to tell). I also thought Kyle Phillips and Vickers played better than their grades. Otherwise, it's about how I saw it.

Enjoy!

DEFENSIVE TACKLE
3. Kahlil McKenzie: 78.7 (439 plays)
10. Alexis Johnson: 69.6 (189 plays)
17. Shy Tuttle: 50.6 (267 plays)
18. Quay Picou: 48.8 (107 plays)
21. Kendal Vickers: 48.1 (632 plays)
25. Kivon Bennett: 47.2 (14 plays)

DEFENSIVE END
6. Darrell Taylor: 76.1 (483 plays)
8. Jonathan Kongbo: 72.2 (598 plays)
11. Kyle Phillips: 69.1 (532 plays)
14. Deandre Johnson: 52.1 (56 plays)
19. Matthew Butler: 48.2 (87 plays)

LINEBACKER
4. Daniel Bituli: 78.5 (500 plays)
7. Quart'e Sapp: 74.7 (447 plays)
13. Will Ignont: 58.9 (27 plays)
16. Cortez McDowell: 50.8 (163 plays)
22. Elliott Berry: 48.0 (250 plays)
28. Colton Jumper: 42.9 (568 plays)

CORNERBACK
1. Rashaan Gaulden: 84.1 (696 plays)
9. Emmanuel Moseley: 71.4 (634 plays)
15. Baylen Buchanan: 51.4 (50 plays)
23. Marquill Osborne: 47.9 (36 plays)
24. Justin Martin: 47.5 (544 plays)
26. Shawn Shamburger: 44.9 (118 plays)
27. Shaq Wiggins: 43.3 (294 plays)

SAFETY
2. Nigel Warrior: 81.0 (822 plays)
5. Todd Kelly Jr.: 76.2 (59 plays)
12. Theo Jackson: 69.0 (47 plays)
20. Micah Abernathy: 48.1 (760 plays)

On a bad defense..... Warrior, Gaulden and Bituli yeah. Anybody on the D-line shouldn’t get a ranking at all.
