I've got a butt-ton of Remy Golden Saber in 124 grain I use, but will eventually change that over to the 124 grain standard HST.
I try to stick to bonded Winchester Rangers in both the 9mm and .45. 147 grain for 9mm, 230 grain for the .45.
If Im carrying a revolver, typically a .44 this time of year, Ill use the buffalo bore 255 grain Keith load in the woods, and the Hornady 180 grain XTP round for the street.
Im hearing great things about the Hornady FTX bullet.

"Obsolete hunks of recycled tuna fish cans." Colonel Cooper is rolling over in his grave...
Still, priceless.
I'm fine with wheel guns. Used to tote a Ruger SP101(?) .357 short barrel. That was my ankle gun, but then I noticed that I kept running in circles on foot chases and decided to go with a smaller auto in a vest tuck.
Have a good weekend, GV. I'm hoping to expend a lot of ammo tomorrow, but right now it's raining, and the temp is forecast to drop precitu....preciptoo....a lot, so I dunno. Nothing worse than a cold, wet sophisticate...
Cooper also thought the ideal general purpose rifle was a bolt action scout type...
Anyway, I believe you're thinking of Elmer Keith in regards to revolvers.
Ah, Im a nostalgic semi old guy going through a midlife crisis. It is what it is lol
Ive always shot revolvers better than most autos, other than the 1911.
Indeed. Mr. Bowen is a national treasure, his work is simply astonishing. I REALLY want his Keith #5 re-creation.Actually one of the best revolver guys in the business is located just outside Knoxville. Hamilton Bowen.

I keep thinking I'm going to treat myself to something from Bowen, maybe a .475 Linebaugh conversion. Eh...maybe someday.

I draw the line at the really heavy .44 magnum loads, 300 grain hammerheads through a super Blackhawk. I shot a buddies Ruger super Blackhawk Bisley in .480 Ruger and it let me know my limitations really quickly. The same buddy with the .480 has a freedom arms model 97 in .500 Wyoming express ordered. I asked him what he intended to do with it, his reply, whatever I want to gotta respect that. Im sure Ill end up shooting it at some point lol
It's better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.
you're not married to a really good woman who is walking out of winn-dixie a couple of weeks ago, and is approached by one of the parking lot nomads you find from time -to-time. He asks for a light; she says she doesn't smoke; he asks for five dollars; she says "i have car keys, my husband's testicles and a pistol in my purse, which one do you want me to pull out?" he wobbles off. I know this happened, because she had our 10-year old nephew with her. She swore him to secrecy, but of course you know he had to tell me...
So...probation it is.
