even if we were all from one place there would still be unwanted individuals. doesn't mean we don't accept anyone. base it on the individuals. I would hate for America to be judged on Alabama and our merits being theirs.

Did I say that? No. I basically called Trump an elitist for holding a place of origin against a group of immigrants rather than evaluating them individually on their merits. An uneducated and lazy person can come from Norway just as easily as they can come from Haiti. Immigration to the U.S. is a tremendous privilege and opportunity which should be handled as a meritocracy. Place of origin should not be a factor.

There was a study done by Scandinavians (cant remember which ones) years ago over about a decade where they found most underdeveloped countries had below 100 IQ's, which the majority of lowest being in Africa and the Middle East/Southwest Asia. The findings actually led to a reclassification of what constitutes mentally retarded. It was around 85 I believe and it got dropped lower to 70 and below and name changed to intellectual disability (or something).

I am not discussing any individuals or their merit.

I am making the point that a problem does get fixed or even attempted to fix when the path is to leave. What is the end goal for Haiti? What masses redirect the path of that miserable place when you can just leave?

Prior to the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s, American Medical Association (AMA) had mental retardation set at 85 IQ and below. During the 1960s, the AMA was petitioned by groups like NAACP, et al, to lower this IQ standard to 70 because at 85, roughly 50% of blacks would be considered mentally retarded.

never said they were all the same. even said different people are better at different things.

tests are just paper that has very little real world application. My sisters tests off the charts, I don't trust her to cross the street by herself.

book smarts vs common sense if you will. In my experience we don't need more book smart people (Millennials) we need people who can get a job done without whining about it.

There probably isn't any one way to determine the relative IQ of someone. but I would hardly try and defend finishing a pattern as the standard we should be held to.

it also reduced the overall number of people who were considered retarded by 50% for all races in this country.

also looking at very other races it shows you how dumb these arbitrary levels can be. Asians are about 5 points on general higher than us, and for Ashkenazic Jews they are 15 points higher than us whites. so for those jews anyone under 100 would be retarded to them. should we use that standard?
