OMG, it never ends at UT, McKenzie is the reason the Vols were so good against the run last year, he will be missed:popcorn:

Best of luck to him... this is gonna sound like sour grapes but I promise it's not... he might go down as biggest bust in UT history. Dude was Scouts #1 rated player. Played like a high end 3 star kid.

He has a higher opinion of his play than I do.

Good luck, KMAC.

Hardly knew ya.

1-techniques don't get judged by sacks or tackles. They take on double teams and plug up gaps in the running game. Kahlil did that very well. Even if his father wasn't a GM, he would get drafted.

I think you guys will be surprised by how high his stock is with NFL people.

I focused on watching Kahlil a lot these last 2 years and he's been really good as a 1-technique. He never gets moved back. Does a great job taking on double teams. And plugged his holes very well.

KMac was a lot better than you guys give him credit for.

But for his high rating, he under performed. Much of that was rotten luck with injuries, but if I had to choose between him or Kendall Vickers? No question, Vickers was easily better.

Tennessee junior DI Kahlil McKenzie suffered a season-ending injury (torn pectoral muscle) just six games into the 2016 season, limiting him to just 152 defensive snaps. In that span, he earned the No. 2 ranked overall grade (78.6) among returning Power 5 interior defenders with less than 200 defensive snaps.
McKenzie also ranked No. 2 against the run among that same group of interior defenders, posting an 80. 4 run defense grade.
Though his pass-rush repertoire is limited, McKenzie picked up a bull rush pressure once every 18.7 rushes, which ranked No. 1 in the draft class. He also ranked No. 1 in pass-rush productivity from a two-point stance at 26.8.

From Pro Football Focus. Now, will you all shut up?

This does really surprise me but I can only assume he is taking advice from his dad who should certainly know more than us about where Kahlil projects.

McKenzie has the ability to be Dontari Poe good .... or can be dropped after preseason

Never saw that good of ability in him...

Playing in Pruitt's defense for a year would've made him better imo...

Just never seen anything that shows he can play in the league besides the measurables...

Big time loss. He's the only true nose tackle we have.

With that said, he'll get drafted higher than most think. He was great this past season.

Solid NFL starter.

What about Tuttle, Crosby and Bain.... I honestly think all the fit the mold as good or better at nose?

How did JJ Watt do under a Butch Jones scheme? His dad, a freaking GM probably has a little bit of an idea of how his son grades out to scouts. He needs to put some weight back on and be a nose tackle, in my opinion.

Has there ever been a team go 0-8 in their conference but still have 3 players leave early for the draft? That sounds crazy.

What he needs to do is stick around and play for a real coach and get a degree.

I don’t rag on kids if they think they can make a go of it. He’s physically imposing and it’s a shame that he didn’t make a splash here. Looking back, him missing his senior year of high school seemed to hurt him in the conditioning department. He was Out of shape as a freshman. And knowing now what we do about the previous S&C program before Gullickson, it seems he was never set straight until this last offseason. He had tons of talent, just couldn’t seem to put it all together. Bad coaching was probably a factor as well. Good luck to the young man.

KMac was a bust for a 5 star recruit. He didn't even play his senior year of high school and I think he wouldn't have even been a 4 star if his dad wasn't an ex NFL player.
