If you can't beat em, steal their D coordinator

I’m actually surprised and a little disappointed to see Pruitt decked out in Alabama gear. I figured he would dress neutral if nothing else. I didn’t expect him to be in all orange but hoped for generic Nike I guess.

Seriously? LOL He’s finishing a job...

CJP has caught some crap over him staying at BAMA for the rest of their season but I personally think this decision shows the character of the coach we just hired. I want him 100% vols from daylight till dark but I completely respect the fact that he owes it to the current team that he is coaching to finish what they started. Even if its at BAMA...

I get everyone wanted to be excited about Pruitt, but are we really acting like Alabamas d is ran by Pruitt instead of saban? And that their 5 star starters have 5 star back ups?

Are you saying he knows nothing about it, I guess saban made him coordinator just where he could control him huh? Pruitt knows defense and recruiting, I don't know for sure if he will be a good head coach or not. But he knows defense, Saban or no saban. I would add great coaches hire great coordinators. If you look at Sabans coordinators and what they have done you would have to come to that logical conclusion. GBO!!!!!

Pruitt, making Venebles look mediocre. Man this dude knows what he is doing!
Can't let GA win a National Championship. They stole Cade Mays and dip into our pool of 'cruits. We are dipping into Bama's 'cruits with Pruitt. Free marketing with him on the TV tonight. Said "Named head coach of Tennessee".

It's both our rivals in the championship boys. We can't let GA have a leg up. Gotta nip this in the bud quick before we have two Bamas to play every season.

In closing, we are on the up. Pruitt will land at least one 5 star. top 12 recruiting class at least.
Nigel Warrior and TK on the field at the same time with DK and Bitulli. With this coaching, we are good to go.

Happy New Year.

I hate to break this to you, but UGA already has a leg up. At the very least, they had that when they won the SEC. It doesn't matter whether they win the NC or not. They have the attention of every elite recruit, which should be pretty obvious by the look of their class so far.

Pruitt will be a 7-5, 6-6 coach at UT imo. We all know that’s Saban’s defense down at Bama don’t give all the credit to Pruitt. I could coach that defense full of five stars and future first rounders.

I don't know about that man this guy was the DC at FSU and had a dominant defense as well. UT has players just need coaches to develop talent. All these player dont just flame out when they get to college. If they do then UT has a bigger problem than we thought

I agree. I'm not sold on JP yet, but I had no problem with him finishing his commitment. I was pretty ticked when Cut left us before our first title game in 30+ years.

Can we stop with this ignorant garbage? Just because Saban has a defensive background means that his defensive staff are a bunch of do-nothings? So, the offensive staff are the only ones who earn their pay? Why does Saban even have a defensive staff, since you clearly think he runs the defense?

The head coach sets the tone and philosophy of the team and coordinates all aspects. He doesn't coach all aspects. There aren't enough hours in the day for that. He hires folks he trusts to successfully implement and deliver upon his philosophy. If they fail, he corrects or replaces them. It's telling that Pruitt is the only guy Saban considered to replace Smart. He trusts Pruitt to get the job done.

Now, will Pruitt be a good or even great head coach? I haven't the foggiest, but I'm going to give him a chance, just like I have the rest. And if he sucks, I'll hold him accountable, just like the rest.

No prognosticating. Only hoping for the best. Go Vols!

I'm hoping Georgia loses. We can't have them start becoming an Alabama of the East every year. I know losing against Alabama wouldn't necessarily prevent it from happening but we need all we can.

Just for clarity since I’m clearly the only person thinking this way. I have no problem with Pruitt finishing his commitment at Alabama. Others have done the same thing. There is a bond with those kids and he is fulfilling his promise to them. I actually have no problem with him wearing his Bama gear. I was just surprised he was down there in it that’s all. He can carry out his commitment and be with his kids just as good in neutral gear so figured out of respect for his new employer where he is the head of the program he MAY go with it. That’s all. I don’t fault him. I don’t disrespect him. I don’t think he is anythjng but 100% Orange. Maybe it’s a superstition. I get it.

Go Pruitt and Go Big Orange

I see Pruitt going 6-6 or 7-5 his first 2 years, strictly on the basis that he does not have his players in the system yet and/or the players he does have need to be coached up to fit his system. But from there the sky is the limit!!

Are they allowed to wear gear that isn’t team issued and branded?

And I wish both could lose but I hope Bama loses more. UGA could be a one-off. Bama is a dynasty that needs to keep losing in the NC game until their national perception takes a big hit.

And history has proven, time and again, that Saban's coordinators usually make excellent HC's with few exceptions. I think we are getting one of his very best, and he is proving it by the staff he is putting together and by the recruits he has garnered in just the short time he and his "short staff" have been on the job. GBO !

Those mentioning CJP's gear on the sideline, they are required to wear the team issued gear on game day. Also, the one time CJP could control what he wore - the press conference leading up to the game - he wore a neutral tie with browns and golds - no red. So I'd say he was doing the best he could on that front. Plus while remaining respectful in his answers to the fact that he was there for Bama, he even got out a few statements about his plan for recruiting while at UT ("we plan to recruit the same kids as Bama, FSU, etc").
