Where did life begin? (Merged)

Do you believe we have a creator, aka "God"?

Yes except that genesis was written in a different language to people who understood things differently.

Nobody who speaks the original language thinks G-d created the universe 6000 years ago

Then why did the KJV translators write it as they did? Did they not understand the language?

It all comes down to faith in the facts of the scriptures. The facts of prophecy fulfilled let's me know that I have the right book.
The fact of the Ressurection of Jesus Christ let's me know I have the right God!
Like all orgin of life theories, they all require faith. 😉

Faith? Hmmm....

They did not.

They also used copies that had errors.
Inclusion of things like the snake handlers of the Gospel of Mark. That vs doesn’t appear in the older copies. That’s just one example

I pretty much align with the deist mindset, God set the world in motion but isn't actively involved.

Scares me that fundamentalists of any religion would think the world is 6000 years old. Anybody who word for word will unquestionably follow orders or beliefs is the utmost danger to the freedom of thought and thus civilization as a whole.

I have no problem thinking for myself, I do a lot of critical thinking 😁

I studied enough to know that I have a copy of the Word of God! What a great comfort. What an intelligent, intellectual decision!! 😀

King James who was famous for his hatred of his brother has the translators include the words “without cause” to this vs. interesting how it changes its meaning.

New International Version
But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, 'Raca,' is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

New Living Translation
But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.

English Standard Version
But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.

Berean Study Bible
But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' will be subject to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be subject to the fire of hell.

Berean Literal Bible
But I say to you that everyone being angry with his brother will be liable to the judgment, and whoever shall say to his brother 'Raca,' will be liable to the Sanhedrin. But whoever shall say, 'Fool!' will be liable to the Gehenna of fire.

New American Standard Bible
"But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, 'You good-for-nothing,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, 'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.

King James Bible
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Holman Christian Standard Bible
But I tell you, everyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. And whoever says to his brother, Fool!' will be subject to the Sanhedrin. But whoever says, You moron!' will be subject to hellfire.

International Standard Version
But I say to you, anyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be subject to punishment. And whoever says to his brother 'Raka!' will be subject to the Council. And whoever says, 'You fool!' will be subject to hell fire.

NET Bible
But I say to you that anyone who is angry with a brother will be subjected to judgment. And whoever insults a brother will be brought before the council, and whoever says 'Fool' will be sent to fiery hell.

As long as you don't vote me into office, you have no worries 😂

Honest question, given that fundamental Christianity (and most other fundamentalism in religions) calls for strict adherence in this case to the Bible over man's law (The Constitution). Would you even consider running for anything?

Personally I wouldn't vote for any fundamentalist of any religion. They can't effectively legislate church and state separately.

Hold on.
Christians traditionally reject G-ds law as null and void

The Bible actually says in multiple places that Christians are to be subject to governing authorities, and my thought would be that the constitution would be considered a governing authority.

ETA: After tonight, after reading your post, I can never vote for an atheist/agnostic, as they are all hyper-generalizing blowhards.

I sure would, and many have governed just fine. :hi:

Do I?
If everything happens all at once and the passage of time is an illusion meaning that G-d knows everything that has/will happen even though we don’t.....do I still have a choice? My future is set even if I don’t know the results
