Scent masking! You have a dog that wants to hunt apparently. My little psycho does it as well, usually raccoon scat...shudder!

My worst was with a different dog though, she sought out otter poo. Absolutely revolting, but she was so proud all shat-up.

When I was a kid, we had a mutt who traveled everywhere with us. On one trip, somewhere between DC and Lake Hiwassee (we were going water-skiing), he went exploring and found a cow pasture. He came back, no longer black and white, covered about 3” deep all over.

My dad threw him in the boat behind the car, drove to the nearest river with a launch ramp, roared out to the middle of the lake, and threw the dog overboard. By the time the dog made it back to shore, he was clean again. (Not sure about my dad; I guess he went in too.)

Much like in “A Christmas Story”, a cloud of obscenities floated over central Virginia that day...
